Back in November or something, my Windows Vista updated. And... ever since, it won't stop "updating", there's always some error and the update won't finish. And apparently, I'm not the only one with this issue. Even though I've looked for help, no one seems to come to a concrete, solid solution.

Any advice?

Oh also, how can I make Windows stop asking me permisson to open FireFox everytime I open it?!

THX. ^_^

I had this problem for a while too, but eventually it just stopped.  I might have turned updating on that computer off because I don't connect it to the Internet anyway.

Well I haven't had a problem with the Windows updater.

To answer your second question:

> Start
> Control Panel
> User Accounts
> Click on user accounts again
> Click "Turn user Account Control On or Off"
> Uncheck box
> Click Continue
> Restart when promted.

if you back up your files maybe you could reinstall vista, though this isnt exactly convenient. im using 32 bit vista home premium, and im not having updating problems. (but i did overwrite it once with linux:P)

Sorry but thats the only thing i can think of.

Could it be a software/hardware firewall preventing you from downloading it? Turn off your firewall in windows and set yourself to DMZ host on your router and see if that goes without any errors.

or are the errors happening after they've downloaded and are installing?

The updates are downloading, but not installing............... it actually asks me to reboot the system, and when I finally reboot it says the installation couldn't be completed. :(
