In that case, that sucks. Maybe try disabling firewalls. There is a nintendo support site that may help you for online troubles.

The weird thing is that I've connected just fine earlier this week and now it won't at all so I guess I'll just fuck around with my router for a while!

and here I thought Sarhan's reply's in this topic were annoying before the game came out
well they were, but now they are worse

Anyway, I have been playing a lot the past few days, and I gotta say I really enjoy Lucario, at first i was like "oh this character must be dumb(like sarhan)" but then I played it a lot more, and have actually been kicking all my friend's asses, but i mean they don't compare to the people I'd play in a tournament who are just barely worth playing(because they actually practice daily like me)

Falco is my second favorite in this game, he just feels more like Fox did in Melee for me, who was my favorite character. Like, I am really disappointed in fox, he sucks in this game(imo). And then Lucas, he is just cool....all that PK stuff, I love it

What exactly is annoying about my posts? Just wondering. Maybe you can explain it to me so I could try to be less annoying instead of being an ass about it? Just a suggestion.

it's pretty fucking mean to the people who just wanted to play with someone they vaguely knew for a fun game or two and instead get told YOU AREN'T EVEN A CHALLENGE ITS LIKE I'M PLAYING CHILDREN *overanalyzes pikachu stats*

I played this game yesterday and luigi is still the best.

When have I said that to anyone? I've never even implied something like that. If there's anyone that I've even remotely insulted, all they have to do is speak up and I'll stop. Simple as that. I've also told people before that I talk trash, but it's all just joking around. You can't pop into this thread every few pages and act like you know what's going on.

I'm having loads of fun with Olimar. He's really good, he'll probably end up high tier (unfortunately). His up+b is super easily gimped though.

YES. His smashes and throws have enormous range, and his aerials are great (up, not so much). For those who don't 'get' him yet, try to remember/keep track of your pikmin. It seems like an awful lot of work, but it's worth it when you can fire smash, lightning smash, and them super-purple smash someone right after another. They all work in different situations, so...

Also Wario is amazing, Stuntkid!

I get the feeling that pretty much everybody can be high tier if you use them right. Such a balanced game!

I agree. Everyone feels playable at this point. Except for Ganon. But I've never been good with him, so who knows. Also Olimar is REALLY hard to approach. Atleast for me. He seems really really really good.

I'd like to concede. Like I said in the old  SSBB disscusion, Purin was the best character in melee, at least in my opinion. If I didn't say that, I'd meant to say it.

And also, I think that Wario sucks.

NO OFFENCE

you said NO ONE POSED EVEN A CHALLENGE EXCEPT THIS GUY AND I WON 60% OF MATCHES WITH HIM, it's pretty fucking douchey, sorry. it's not TALKING TRASH, it's being a dick to everyone you played with so far who wasn't furiously tallying up their win loss ratio.

Fair enough. You're right. That was douchey and I'm sorry I said it. Sorry if I offended anyone and I promise not to do it again.

Anything else?

I had some good online matches today... I don't think it was anyone here.  I forget exactly who it was because I have a bunch of random friend codes on my list from various forums.

Anyhow, I played a bunch of matches against the same dude... he used Olimar really well.  Olimar can be REALLY REALLY annoying.  In the first few matches, he beat me rather badly but I gained by footing later and scored a few wins with Marth and Sheik.  I've been trying to get good with Wolf too but I still need work... I still accidentally kill myself too much by using his moves wrong :\

I'm still pretty bad but I think I'm making progress by playing online a lot.

Sarhan, add me to MSN ([email protected]) or AIM (BAD Magy) so we can set up some shit eventually.

Just played a few matches against one of the best Melee players in Canada yesterday and learned a LOT of shit with Lucario and others. Probably going to make a strategy thread in Saikyo Dojo soon.

I don't know...

My opinion is that you shouldn't do that, because not only the online person knows, but anyone from around the world who is watching the match knows how much of a newbie you are also.

I suggest that you train offline until you are you are in "movie appeal" as I like to call it.

My personal training method is to fight in "team stamina" against as many Lv.9 Gannondorfs as I can handle (I know that I almost beat 3 with purin with: 86; 39; and 57 HP left) either that or completly clear 1p mode set on a difficulty above what you can handle. It's just like weight traning; sometimes you have to go above the limit.

Playing against CPUs is complete bullshit and should never be used to gauge someone's skill level in any sort of games.

I do awful against CPUs yet I can take the fight up to some of the best players in the country and be on an even playing field against them. Playing the computer has nothing to do with how good you are in any games, even less with Smash.

I hate to say it Raziel, but YOU are the one that is complete bullshit.
Your arguement has the least effecient if not any evidence what so ever.
Yes the CPU can help you if you know how to use it. And THAT requires skill, my friend.
I am living proof. Before I fought my brother I used my training method and I've won alot more times than not training whatsoever.
It also depends on how good the human player is.
One can brag that they are one of the best in the country butare they really?
Did you even win the battle?
In you last statement you said,"even less in smash" so that indicates that you have ZERO contensions toward smash.
And at least it's better to train that way insted of getting your ass beat online with thousands of people watching.
I guess you can train with a friend, but notheless you should not do the online training method.

Uh, my proof is that I have several years of experience and major tournaments won or placed top 8 under my belt?

Seriously guy, get with the fucking program. It's the same in any goddamn game, be it Smash, Street Fighter, Starcraft or anything else. You train against real humans to HEY WHAT'S THIS?? get good against real humans.

I know, it boggles the mind.

I'm sorry if a scrub like you thinks playing against CPUs makes you even the least bit good, but it doesn't. It makes you used to CPU tactics which are the worst fucking thing ever because they don't do anything right except reading your input. No dashdancing, no chain throws, no actual combos except the built in ones, no DI, nothing. It's like playing against a retard, except you know, the retard might catch on that there are things outside the shit built into the engine that can be abused.

Let me put this simple for you.

IF YOU'RE ALONE AND WANT TO TRAIN, YOU SHOULD PLAY IT LIKE I ONCE TOLD YOU

IF YOU'RE NOT ALONE YOU SHOULD PRACTICE WITH A FRIEND

IF THE FRIEND IS NOT AS GOOD AS YOU, YOU SHOULD TRAIN THEM UNTIL THEY ARE, THEN PERFORM STEP 2

IN MY OPINION, YOU SHOULDN'T HUMILIATE YOUSELF ONLINE

THIS GOES FOR ALL GAMES THAT HAS THE CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES OF SMASH

I know, it boggles the mind.

Oh, and sorry for saying your complete bullshit. That was kind of bitchy of me.

Guys, please don't turn this into a flame war. I think you both have valid points, but I do side with Raziel. A major aspect of playing against humans is that you have to wage psychological warfare. You can't practice that AT ALL against the CPU. While CPU opponents will allow you to practice your moves and combos they won't allow you to adapt your playing style to human nature - and when two human opponents face off with a similar skill level it's psychology that will determine who wins - your ability to read your opponent and exploit his patterns and weaknesses.

Mateui is right, let's put the guns away and go ahead on with our business

and PS:
I'm not talking about compitition but TRAINING. Those are the best things to do while TRAINING. So you are more capable of efficient psychological warfare.

How imbarassing the whole time we were arguing different things :fogetlaugh:
