By the way, if anyone wants to set up some quick matches against me, feel free to add me on AIM or MSN (BAD Magy and [email protected] respectively). I'm usually on most weekdays seeing as how I don't work too often and I only have school two days a week.

Wolf is one of the better characters out there, he is good because his Forward Smash has more range, which is awesome, and plus he can spike too. :D I don't tend to rely on his B moves though, except for when I"m tryin' to recover.

Except he's got the worst recovery in the entire game, not including -perhaps- Yoshi. His up-B doesn't grab the ledge where anyone else's would've. It sucks. Plus he has horrible movement in midair. Metaknight, for example, can move halfway across Final Destination after he's up-B'd and canceled, because you can move him so much even when he's 'stunned' from the up-B. Wolf can't do anything like that.

Also is it just me or is it harder to play guys who suck than not? I can fight better people, but I don't do as well when I'm playing people who just got the game! I guess, half the game is prediction, and these guys are completely unpredictable, but... Anyone else have this feeling?

Yeah, the same applies to me, and as for Yoshi, not many have seemed to notice but his Up B, while not  the greatest way to recover, it can actually save your ass if your first jump doesn't make it all the way, it will give you a tiny lift and you should be able to make it back up to the ledge.

But yea, you're used to the pros strategies you don't know what kind of thing that new peopel will do.

Become more offensive!!

Then it doesn't matter what he's going to do because usually there is maybe 1 thing he can do out of 5 that can save his ass, and he's going to pick one of the 5 things randomly. Works in Melee at least, stick to the other guy like glue. Pain glue.

What passes as playable delay? I've been getting an average of 0.2 seconds and it is bugging the fuck out of me. I am by no means at the competitive level... but I don't think training myself in this environment will help me much.

I didn't think so either but I played a bunch of friends at home yesterday (whom I hadn't played with in over a week) and I think playing online helped a lot. I felt like all of my characters got speed buffs. Timing wasn't an issue either since the lag online isn't too horrible to the point where it affects timing. I hadn't been playing anything but online matches before that so I do think it helps, even if there is input lag.

This is probably the best advice you're going to get. Constant pressure is key in screwing your opponent over, seasoned or not. Apply enough pressure and they start to panic, lose their cool, and become predictable. If you manage to do that, there's no reason you should lose.

Also Raziel, I just remembered I got your stuck in Falco's laser lock. I thought that was pretty hilarious. I wish we would have been in a walled/walk-off stage. His laser lock seems like it'd be a great strategy online since not many people are used to teching with the input lag.

Yeah, I tried teching but because of the input lag nothing happened and then I mashed R some more but nothing happened and I was like "oh wait laser lock fuck you".

I'm starting to pick up Snake and I just figured that his explosives aren't meant to do damage but just to make the opponent move in a way that allows you to PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE since Snake's non-smash normals are fucking rape.

There's a guy in Illinois named Zjiin and his Snake is pretty good. He uses Snake's explosives very well. I think it just takes focus because you have to keep in mind where you laid them down at all times. Youtube some videos of Zjiin. He can pull off that dash attack into up smash combo consistently, which you should practice if you plan on making Snake one of your mains.

Yeah, I can do the dash cancel consistently (not very well online tho, because of the input lag so it's more of a guess as to when the attack is going to hit). It only seems to hit at mid percentages and in the corner tho.

What I meant is that the explosives do hit eventually but they're mostly there to force your opponent into an uneasy situation. Grenades are great for edgeguard tho and so is his up smash. He really surprised me because I figured he'd be pretty bad but he's just very different.

So, I was playing this with a few friends today and it was pretty awesome. It didn't feel too different from SSBM but different enough to feel a bit fresh, plus it's been a long time since I touched SSBM. The level design is fantastic and the game has a lot of neat things like SURFING WITH BOXES. Seriously, playing the game for the first time with a few friends who have never played it either can be pretty hilarious. Also, Wario got the coolest moves ever.

yeah that was a little weird how the room died?
tatsu, you're pretty good. always keeping on the offensive. :] and T-POP (err who was that? oh right right, doppleganger), i kept falling for bowser's down-b, haha. and man, diddy is the most annoying character to face in a 1-on-1.
i was experiencing quite a bit of lag though, which was pretty annoying. and the bad part about playing online is that, even when it's not too laggy, it can be unresponsive. but yeah, it was fun. :D
semper games.

being that I'm actually starting to WIN against people, I think I'm improving a bit. Managed to beat blindmind and Jman, so good games. Ike is fun, despite the slight lag, as is wolf. I'd like to get the hang of using snake too; he's a whole lot of fun... [/ramble]

@Nightblade - I don't usually make excuses (except for lagwise etc.) But I actually didn't mean to choose Metaknight, I am terrible with em' but otherwise good games nonetheless.

Whooee, spent last night playing just plain old Brawl mode with two buddies and unlocked pretty much everyone now. x_x All random characters, all random levels, every bloody match. Excellent fun.

I'm totally maining as Marth or Ice Climbers. Ice Climbers have become really fucking good in this one! Ike's pretty good too but a bit slow. I really wanted to like Dedede, Pit, Meta Knight and Lucario, but they are all horrible ball-suckers and I suck with them. ;( And don't get me started on Diddy Kong!

Snake's alright though, and Sonic's pretty great. :D

@KoG: Playing against Ness with Smash Balls only is pretty annoying.
