Quick question.  Is it possible to set up a computer to broadcast a wireless signal?  Either with a wireless card in a laptop or with a piece of hardware that I'd have to buy.  I used to be using a 4 port wireless router but our house requires an 8 port router and I got a wired one.  The only thing I could think of was internet connection sharing on the laptop but that requires the laptop to be receiving a wireless signal.  Any ideas?

Edit: I should mention that I'm hoping to use this wireless connection with my DS and PSP.

you can share the wireless connection via ethernet, but I don't think you can actually broadcast it.

now, if you want to connect to the internet with your DS or PSP, you should be able to do it using your router.

The router I'm currently using isn't wireless so I can't connect my DS or PSP to it.  Also you can broadcast a wireless signal, I've done it with laptops, though the laptops were using a wireless connection for internet at the time (not using wired like the laptop in my house is using).

hm, well I don't use laptops, so I don't really know how their networking works.

but, if you get a wireless router I know you can connect with your ds and psp for sure, I've done it with mine.

Yes, I know it would work if I plugged my wireless router back in.  The problem is that router is only 4 ports and we have 7 devices that need wired connections in this house, thus the 8 port wired router that we're currently using.  I don't plan on getting an 8 port wireless router as I don't have $200 to drop on something like that.

I think that if you connect the wire from your modem to your wireless router, and take a crossover cable and plug it into the uplink or whatever port on your wireless router to the 8-port router you can still send internet to the other devices.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea.  I'll try that out tomorrow when I get home from work.  How would I access each router from my computer though?  Would they have different IP addresses?
