Yay! With the new release of the third installment of the Super Smash Brothers game, Brawl, a GW tournament has been assembled. Since I seem to be the blogger who copies other people's words for public announcements, I decided that I was the best man for this job!

First off, we've got the strategy thread for Brawl, with at least a guide to Ganondorf, from Raziel. Contribute your strategies here! This also has some smash terms and advanced techniques, so be sure to check up on that.

Now, here's the list of everyone who's submitted their Brawl codes and tags they use. In order to fight someone, each person must add the other's Brawl code. The names are just preferences, more or less.

I preemptively apologize for the columns; I'm not too good at lining them up. They look fine from here...

EDIT by handsome lamb: fixed this for you.

Nice.
Cool. Now, for the tournament stuff. There are at the moment 28 contenders. Some might drop out or leave or whatever, but that's the amount of people who said they're in. Here's some info:

Rules:
-3 stock matches.
-Best 2 out of 3 (finals is best 3 out of 5).
-Items off.
-All stages allowed.
-Double elimination.
-No stalling.

Quote from: Sarhan

General Information:
The tournament begins this Sunday, March 23 at 6 PM (central). If you do not know your time zones, head over to time.gov. You will have one day to complete each round and PM me with the results. There are five rounds (rounds 1, 2, 3, semi-finals, and finals) so the tournament will take five days to complete. You have from 6 PM of day the round begins until 5 PM of the next to complete your set (best 2 out of 3) and PM me with the results. I will then take the results, update the brackets, and post them by 6 PM, when the next round will begin.

If neither contestant PMs me the results, both participants will be disqualified.

Communication:
First of all, please add everyone on the list of tournament participants as soon as possible. Brawl takes a decent amount of time to add people every now and again so make sure you add everyone right away to avoid complications when the tournament begins.

Since it'd be tough to set a time when everyone can go online, it'd be best to leave it up to the contestants to contact each other. After the bracket is determined, you have to get in touch with your opponent and set up a time when you'd both be able to play. Please use PMs/AIM/mIRC/MSN/whatever for this to avoid cluttering up the topic (you can, however, post about how the matches went). After someone gets the 2 victories, you PM me with the results.

Contenders are as of now:

Sarhan, Terin, Cheesy Doritos, Riptor, Mateui, the_hoodie, Blindmind, King of Games, abkewl5, jman00, Man-O-War, Tatsujinken, Doppleganger, YoshiJRC, weesman88, mkkmypet, angry black man, Nikuru, halibabica, Eric, Belross, jaller141, TrickLobster, Mirthless, Erave, Capt_Strife, Evil Bob, and Raziel.

Once again, head over to the topic to check out their codes, or check above I guess. Tell Sarhan if you want to join, but do it quick!

Also remember to go to #capcom (irc://irc.whahay.net/capcom) for all your Brawl discussions and match set-ups! And/Or take a peak at the thread!

That's basically it. I paraphrased/copied from Sarhan and his topic a lot, since he's setting it all up. Happy brawling!

Unfortunately I can't take part in this one (if I can even play it online with you guys, I don't know yet) but hopefully there will be another one and if I can play with my mighty eurolag, I definitely want to join. Good luck to everyone.

It's not like it *really* matters dude, you need both people's friend codes to play with them, so if some random guy adds these people, they can't do shit.

So.

Cheesy: fixed your tags, changed the friend codes into an actual table.

If matches aren't timed... what would constitute as stalling?

Usually, stalling is abusing any sort of technique that allows you to go around or stay in one spot of the stage without being able to be hit back. Peach's wallbombing in Melee was considered stalling if it was done intentionally and not for recovering, so I assume similar things will be considered stalling in Brawl, such as using Metaknight, Pit or Zelda in the Hyrule Temple stage, get a single kill and circle the stage endlessly without the opponent ever being able to get to you in time.

Thanks DN! Very much appreciated.

Also guys remember to add everyone, because there can be some lag times between friend confirmations.
