but.. it doesnt look like the genesis games. like i said and a bunch of people agreed (or at least one guy did i dont read posts ffs), the genesis games were about multiple routes with tons of little hidden shit all over the place (the invincibility tv at the start of s1 green hill act 3, or the sneakers hidden at the start of s3 angel island act 1, for instance)

not going to the right really fast and running through lines after lines of rings.

so no, it doesnt look like the originals on steroids. it looks like the gba games on steroids, or sonic adventure from a side view.

Agreed, it looks far more linear than the old Sonic games. This isn't like Mario though, it is more like.. I don't know, the old Crash Bandicoot games?

If the levels at least BRANCH then that might be sort of okay, but a straight level left to right which might CURVE A LITTLE is not very Sonic-esque and gives the impression that Sega just wants to appeal to the "lol sonic are fast!" crowd.

well theyve been doing that since the gba games started.

i think they have actually forgotten the genesis games. whenever they talk about GOING BACK TO THEIR ROOTS it always looks like the gba games. like that one on ds they said was going back to their roots and it was just a gba sonic on 2 screens.

Yeah after Sonic 3D blast and the failed sonic extreme, sega must've thought "He's a fast hedgehog... lets make the games about being really really fast!" and they've basically ignored [n]everything[/b] that made Sonic games good. The level designs became linear and more cliche/unoriginal, the enemies became fewer and less imaginative, the scripted sequences and set-up stunts often ended up taking control over levels instead of being one-off moments. There hasn't been a truely good Sonic game since Sonic and Knuckles. Sonic advance are playable, but they don't have the level design or enough badnicks/puzzles. They have obsticles but... it sucks. I am such a huge fan of the 90's Sonic games, but I really can't like any made from adventure onwards.

Let's all admit it: Sonic were meant for 2D... the concept doesn't work in 3D. Although, it's nice to see that they are at least trying to make it a 2D platform (in a 3D world)... better than the last shitty games over the year.

I think it actually looks good - but then again I probably won't play it either but it's not like REPULSING to look at so it's a start

but the werewolf thing sounds bad

and they should do realism except some person transforms into sonic and he's like AWW SHIT NOW MY EYES ARE ATTACHED TO EACH OTHER THIS IS THE WORST PAIN EVER

Heh. When I first heard "re-invent Sonic" and "werewolf" while waiting for the video to load, I was expecting some kind of alternate dimension thing like they did with the Megaman series... Except about a kid who turns into a hedgehog.

But wow. This looks like it's going to do for Sonic what Super Mario 64 did for Mario.

Gee, I hope this doesn't mean the upcoming Mario title is going to do for Mario what Sonic Adventure did for Sonic.

To me it looks like the same gameplay as in Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii...which was awful...therefore I'm not going to get my hopes up for this one.

By the way,
Why does Sega feel it's important to have a story in the Sonic games? The game on 360 with the chick was just awful. Sonic is just like Mario in a way: The games had a really simple idea and plot: Complete the course, collect rings/money and defeat Robotnik/Koopa at the end of the level. At least Nintendo used a similar formula with Mario 64 and Galaxy (I think).

all good points, though sonic rush adventure sorta bought the old roots back(cept for ocean travel >.<) explore-wise and puzzle-wise

This doesn't look half bad, and I like the fact that they reverted back to side-scrolling for the most part. Maybe they do have alternate routes and stuff still in it.

Oh wait, werewolf.

Hey, SEGA filed a copyright claim in an attempt to make all the media about this game disappear.  To reiterate, it's an actual leak, not HOHO WE SAID THE INFO WAS COMPROMISED BUT ITS REALLY NOT.  This is NDA-breaking shit.  They apparently weren't allowed to let anyone know this game existed until May.  The dudes responsible for this are as good as fired, probably.  That's why you're not seeing the video anymore.

What difference does it make if people are genuinely excited about it?  It doesn't make any difference.  I'm just putting this information out.  Don't care all you want.  I could spout some bullshit about how it's only a leaked build and that it hasn't been polished to a certain level, but at least this leak is honest.  SEGA hasn't had time to gussy it up with extraneous shit that doesn't matter, like poses of Sonic pointing at the camera *you're mine joker*
