Yeah, so, through some ridiculous events last night I may now being going to JAIL (!!!) for a few months if I can't get out of this. The police can do whatever they want and it is pretty bullshit.

Well pretty much I just took off too fast when the roads were wet and so I ended up being pulled over for that. And then the proceeded to verbally harass and search me despite the fact I wasn't driving erratically or anything. They pulled me out of my car and demanded I provided a breath sample which I thought was ridiculous, so now my car is impounded and I'm being charged with impaired driving (failure to provide a sample).

Were you drunk? If not, why didn't you just do the breath sample?

I had a few drinks a few hours before, so I was a bit buzzed, but yeah-- I wasn't driving all over the place or anything. I wasn't even going over the limit (which the cops were mind you; they drove me home 30km/h over the limit the entire way). I just took off too fast. I didn't provide a sample, because I thought the whole thing was completely ridiculous. I told them I'm refusing based on the moral grounds that I don't think them being police officers gives them a right to harass me / do whatever they want and they told me 'that doesn't make sense.'

fun fact, kids; you legally do have the right to refuse a breathalyzer or a drug test when stopped. however, it means you lose your license immediately (in most states as far as I know). officers have the right to stop anyone for anything suspect. the fact that Catslacks previously defended drunk driving fervently is also indicative that he was probably drunk driving (since he has no problem with it) and the officers could tell.

dude you won't go to jail for that, you'll probably lose your license though. You realise of course contending with an officer on anything is probably a bad idea right? Maybe its a shitty way that things are, but the fact is thats the way they are.
