I'd say The Lotus Eater is probably the second most heavy track on the album, Heir Apparent being the heaviest. Porcelain Heart, Hessian Peel, Hex Omega have heavy moments too but overall, Watershed is definitely not that heavy compared to most of Opeth's work.
I have listened to this a few times now and I think it's great. I have always prefered Opeth's clean vocals and while total absence of the growling would suck, I think Opeth have managed to balance the two pretty well here. I'd say this is Opeth's least metal album since Damnation and I have a feeling that those who like the heavier Opeth might be disappointed in Watershed as there's a lot of mellow parts and it rarely gets really heavy. I also doubt that Opeth are trying to appeal to the Damnation crowd since I think the album is still a bit too heavy for the people who could only get to Damnation, and the heavy songs tend to be less accessible than on Ghost Reveries, except for Porcelain Heart. I also get this feeling that this album is just... I dunno, more prog than before? There are a fair amount of abrupt changes, unexpected parts plus some weird outros.
It's great for me though, since as I said, I love the clean vocals and there's plenty of them here, and there's also enough growling. I don't think Opeth are being that adventurous here but it's unique enough to feel new and refreshing, plus I like the addition of the aforementioned bard shit, and the female vocals on Coil are great. It's too early to tell how this fares against other Opeth albums but at the moment I am loving it. All the songs are great.
