yeah so i just beat assassin's creed and it has inspired me to make this topic :D! obviously put everything in spoilers/hide tags (in the way i am about to) and just mention and discuss the worst endings to video games you can think of!

Obviously this is in order of how much I hated them, but AC is at the top because I beat it yesterday and I am still really mad at it.

So yeah, what are YOUR most hated videogame endings????

Well, I'm gonna go way back to the SNES-era and mention "Jurassic Park". Me and my brothers rented this game several times because we never managed to complete it. For those who never played it, all you do is basically collecting 18 dinosaur eggs as well as completing several objectives along the way. You couldn't save or anything so you had to complete it on a single playthrough.

We finally did complete the game eventually only to be "rewarded" with a 10 second cutscene of the island being zoomed out with this giant Jurassic Park logo on it. Then a message appeared: Thanks for playing this game (or something like that).

Sure, it's just a SNES game but all those hours spent on it only to get that shitty ending felt terrible and I consider that "Worst ending ever".

Ock ock, Ack ack!
Beware of the cursed monkey spit!

I kinda liked HL2ep2's ending. it was really nice for a game to bring shit down to a more personal level.
I dunno, worst endings? I dunno. Crysis' was really bad. The game felt like it was half way through when BAM!
I'm finding games with multiple endings generally have them really bad, because of the lack of the solid story from the get go. Like stalker has 20,000 endings. I adore the game, but none of it;s 20,000 endings are really deserving.

GTA2 for Ps1..

Once you get 5M$ in the industrial area and you go to 'Jesus Saves' building, then you're given a screen - sompilation of all loading screens in the game, and a text 'GAME OVER'... Then you're brought back to the title screen.
GTA2 is long game to complete esp. without cheats and it's so much fun but..

well, since i've been talking about Knights of the Old Republic in another post i might as well give a little rant about that games ending. Knights of the Old Republic had a very good and satisfying ending if you took the path of the dark side. BUT the second game "Knights of the Old Republic 2: the Sith Lords" had one of those "oh, it's over?" kind of endings. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it but the story builds up into one of the most epic sagas i have ever read/played and then, all of the sudden, I was rewarded with a three second clip of something and then *BAM* ending credits... What a lame SHIT! I just sat there staring at the screen thinking that something was wrong with the program. or maybe i suffered a stroke and lost ten hours of memory. But no, nothing was wrong with me. It was the game. The ending just sucked. I was left with so many loose ends. I don't even know what happened to the exile... or his comrads... did they die somehow? did they go home and take a lunch break while they were finishing the game? who knows.

How has bioshock not been mentioned yet? I adored the story, and loved the bit where your powers go tits up and crazy and randomly change every 10 seconds, but damn the final boss fight is piss easy (and repetitive), and the ending...is so bad it's stupid.

I was just going to bring that up sarevok.

Yeah, Bioshock had a brutal ending. Like, both of the endings sucked dick. The entire story was awesome and epic, and I want to see more and thank god they are coming out with another game, but seriously. That ending like, had nothing to do with anything anybody cared about.

KOTOR2 was famously rushed into being finished (also KOTOR was likewise well known to be rushed into finished). I think there was HALF THE GAME missing or something, which explains why the endings weren't stellar.

Deus Ex.  Both games.  Fantastic, twist filled plot and some kick ass moments (like trash talking Simons before you fight him) and they promised 3 distinct endings.

I was okay with the fact that all 3 endings could simply be achieved during the last 10 minutes of gameplay.  Fine, whatever.  I wasn't okay that each of the endings was essentially a 30 second "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS" narration.  None of it contained the closure I wanted out of the series and was a half assed coverup of the classic "congrats for beating me."

On that note, the Fallout series were pretty terrible too.  Finding out how you changed the wasteland was neat but they never went in depth at all about what happened to your character (first game) or village (second game) other than "you saved the day thanx for playing."  Baldur's Gate had a really short ending, but it was a pretty thrilling short video.  You basically spend   I was really looking forward to a sequel because of that.

I'm on a the "developers need to step it up" boat because few of them seem to take their endings seriously when they go on to praise the fucking story so much.

the final boss from Baldur's Gate.  He's ridiculously hard to hit, can take away half your health in a single swing of his sword, is practically immune to magic, can attack 4 or 5 times a round (despite being like... a 8th level fighter in DnD terms), the room you fight him in has a dozen traps and you can't disarm them before initiating the fight, and to make matters worse he's backed up by a slightly weaker but still powerful ogre and a wizard that casts cloudkill (super powerful spell that covers 75% of the area) at the very start of the fight.

I forget how I beat him but it involved drinking EVERY potion in my belt, using web to hold the wizard and ogre (er, I think Tazok was an ogre but I digress), surrounded him with tons of summoned monsters then pounded on him with ranged fighters and magic missile because nothing blocks that shit.

Fuck, I loved Baldur's Gate series.  from the 2nd game was a much cooler villain and 30x stronger but you fought him alone so it wasn't as difficult of a battle.
