I don't know shit about read/write speed jargon but I recently bought a 4GB CompactFlash card that was advertised as 150x. I ran a test on it with the program called SiSoftware Sandra Lite. Here were the results:

I have a feeling this are really shitty scores and I can expect this card to NOT suffice for a dSLR camera. That's just the impression I'm getting though, and I'm not exactly well-informed on this kind of thing. Any pros want to help me understand these figures?

EDIT: Jesus I used a different card reader and things look a LOT better for this card. It even outperformed the much spendier SanDisk Extreme III in some areas.

I don't even know what the hell 150x would even mean. It looks like the most important statistic in that listing, as far as using it in a DSLR camera, is the 2MB file read and write speeds. Divide the average size of a picture you take with your camera by the rate listed there to get the average number of seconds it will take to read or write a picture.

I guess premiums no longer have the ability to lock their own topics???

Anyways, my worries have mostly been put to rest. It looks like this card performs pretty well considering I paid $25 for it versus $55 for the SanDisk Extreme III. If anyone else is interested, it's a TopRAM card (some Taiwan company or something) and I bought it from a merchant known as sellbuzz on eBay.

I'd back up your pictures from the card pretty often given what I suspect that card's reliability is going to be like.
