yeah uh THIS VERSION of gw has been around since late november of 2001 but before that i think there was another version of the site and forums that was around from late 2000 to late 2001 when they switched and everyone had to reregister.  so like 6 or 7 years, depending when you start counting.

also there are a lot of them but the admins i can remember are bart, mori, mr. y, faust, pyrate, alexander, legacy, darkpriest, steel, rowain, jester, mdn, ds, rami, impeal, mateui aaaand i'm probably missing some but yeah.

You also forgot Faust/Lord Gremlian.  He was one of the original founders.  Bart's original name was Fenix before he changed it to Bart and started taking up his lego persona.  Mr. Y was an admin.  He made me staff before GW 5 went down the shitter.

In the year 2000 there was a forum or board called rm2k.net or something stupid like that.  It was pretty small and full of a bunch of 12 year old fags making bad rtp games but it was a close knit group of fags and they were all small and cool.  About a year later, Bartek Gniado a small brownie from the magical forest deep within the Canadian Highlands, purchased the server and domain name and renamed it to Gamingw and the foget (that blue guy from that shitty Neo Geo game) became our mascot.

My memory was hazy at that point, but I lurked the board because I was loyal to the gamefaqs rpg maker board (lol).  We basically talked about how much gamingw sucked and how cool GGZ was (big mistake).  I got super pissed off at the gamefaqs board because the guys there were dumb and you couldn't post screens and shit so I joined GGZ.  I talked to SHE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED for 5 minutes on AIM (because the ONLY way to join their boards was to message the dumb bitch and she would give you a fucking board interview HOLY SHIT GGZ WAS FUCKING ELITIST). **

I posted once and got banned because my game contained resources that Dark_Priest made and he was a Gamingw member.

I said "why the fuck not?" and joined gamingw as bakusan (my gamefaqs handle) a name I couldn't quite remember where I got it from or what inspired me to choose something so stupid.  Within that year I got into a huge argument with Alexander (the STEEL PALADIN of 2001) about FuBu or something like that and I called out Ryan (the mcdonalds guy) and he ended up getting fired.  Then I changed my name to Marcus (my middle name of sorts) and got into the "in" crowd by test playing Naufragar as I was the only person who actually finished the fucking betas.

**that which shall not be named/Q_Heretic (her son) interview essentially boiled down to "Have you now or have you ever been to the cess pool shit hole otherwise known as GamingW?"

The answer, of course, was no.  If you said yes she would add you to the ignore list, ban your IP, and probably call your mom.  I SHIT YOU NOT, SHE CALLED BART'S MOM.

She also threatened to sue us multiple times for using "exclusive" resources even though they were mostly RTP edits which were strictly against the TOS.  GGZ even BANNED rpg2k3 because it was "illegal" or some stupid shit yet openly supported rpg2k and kept Don Migeul's links in their contact info.

And that, my friends, is where babies come from.

ON THE SUBJECT OF STEEL

His first post here was about how modern games sucked and Ico and Super Metroid Prime was awesome or something then he pm'd me and called me dumb because he didn't think I liked the games.

We've been love/hate buddies ever since the hairy bastard.  I wish I saved pics of him joning Avril Lavigne.

glad hundley posted because he was the reason i joined the forums.  he was as drunk back then as he is now (except he was more active) and he was the mod of the literature forum but the lit forum is super slow and sucks so he quit/got fired/got bored/moved on.

i don't think hundley even knows where he is or what he's doing here but i follow him around because i'm president of the fan club... kind of like how members like steel have followers (hereby dubbed Paladinians) that fag up every topic with "go steel" and "lol astrojone"

i don't think i've ever seen a single member rub their join date in another members face and we've discussed multiple times about removing post count (we even removed it for a couple of weeks but it got put back because Atari and DS lost the will to live and Moriason, being an actual manic depressive, threatened to kill himself or something).  there was a period back when dragonslayer and masterdarkninja weren't mods and battled for most posts (MDN had like 20,000 posts in one month that guy was a BEAST) gamingw had this ANTI-ELITISM MARCH where we scoured every board and attacked anyone that even remotely seemed full of pride.

We had a couple of cool group things like raiding a white supremacy board and trolling GGZ (and Wishcow would retaliate by trolling us but it was fucking obvious who she was).

Oh god, memories.

Why are we even discussing the past? Its so...depressing..we should look at the future like lets say 2 years from now when Bart retires and he makes me owner of the site, now thats something to look forward to.

i distantly remember ggz but as i was an innocent child whose parents would not let join forums (i joined gw secretly heh) i did not realize the shittiness of ggz

oh yeah hi

My history is lame and boring and you don't want to know but I'll tell you anyways for no real good reason.

back on topic now

GW used to be an awesome site for resources, as far as I can remember. There used to be a smaller selection of games, too. And they were mostly decent. And weren't all [advert]. And were not all jrpgs. Also I remember part of the GW rules was "lol don't swear we have younger folk here" and I was happy because that meant I could join because I was 12 at the time.

=(

i want to hear more tales of ggz because gwiki is down so i cannot enjoy the finer aspects of the story

also no otomon no
no

dwelling in the past is important so we do not make the same mistakes in the future...

GGZ certainly looks like a site full of funny people

Anyways, I like reading peoples histories about how they came on here, especially Marcus's. Was the site launched on 02 with a mainpage or did that come later?

There has always been a main page which is why everyone is trying to get GW6 done.  GW is nothing without a mainpage it's what we're missing in life!

Wasn't BBM an admin, or was he just a front page staffer?

Also the greatest GW member (WIP) is from '01, along with some other lesser people.

WIP is from the rm2k website that Bart took over so he's pretty old school.  that dude, the owner of queen's court, and several other rm2k fags are the oldest members here.

AND WE DROVE THEM AWAY YES

I discovered RPGMaker '95 in 1998, I think, and then I learned about RPGMaker 2000 through two aquaintences who I had introduced to the RM95. I was a member at rpg2knet.com way back in the day, and when I got a better computer, I got RM2k and started to comb sites for resources, so GGZ, Phylomortis, GamingW. I made a couple games before 2002, and was banned for trying to post them at GGZ (I don't remember why), but when I registered at GamingW, I got my game Gunslingers (never finished) as front page news. I layed low for a couple years and in 2004 I started to get more active in making games and being online and stuff.
GW's always been pretty cool. I have been getting less and less cool though.
Holy cow, this year is my ten yearniversary of game making.

Hey I remember there was this guy who would always post news on the main site back for GW 4 and GW 5. Maybe for GW 3 too I don't remember. But his avatar was like this polar bear and he was like the friendliest guy in the world. Who was he and what happened to him?

HAHAHAAHAAHAHA. An INTERVIEW.
Wishmoo was a psychopath, I'm surprised the website is still up. I got an EMAIL from her once demanding i remove some shitty sprite from my webspace... eventually threatened with legal action. I think I joined the forums for once out of curiosity, and it was INCREDIBLY BORING. Something about it reminds me of a strange religious UTOPIAN community. I remember posting an image on there for some reason, and getting warned because it was hosted on a website that hosted an Rm2k3 file or something.

I think you mean AnonymousGuy (also known as the member #1337) but the avatar wasn't a polar bear it was a dog. AnonymousGuy was the guy who did the weekly game round ups, and also was a site admin for a short while. Shit I really need to get gwiki back up.

big thanx to dragonslayer for sig!
