Ok. well I'm not good at explaining, and I don't want people seeing the manga as something different from what I'm trying to express.. So I just copied details from wikipedia

Quote from: wikipedia
The plot of School Rumble covers the daily lives of students of the fictional Yagami High School and their surroundings. The series is of the romance comedy genre, with scenes in the story being exaggerated for comedic purposes.

The heroine is Tenma Tsukamoto, a second year high school girl with no special qualities who has a crush on Oji Karasuma, a stonefaced eccentric. The generally clueless Tenma finds it difficult to confess her love to him. Complications arise with Kenji Harima, the male protagonist and a delinquent, who has developed a crush on Tenma. He too has difficulty confessing to her. The attempts of the two characters to confess their respective loves are running gags seen throughout the series.

As the series progresses, the story changes focus to the relationship that develops between Harima and Tenma's close friend, Eri Sawachika, which results from various embarrassing situations involving Eri and Harima. Harima also develops a relationship with Tenma's younger sister Yakumo Tsukamoto, who begins to assist Harima with the development and drawing of his manga.

As the story progresses, Harima gets himself into romantic situations with Tenma, the relationship between Tenma and Karasuma progresses, and Eri's and Yakumo's bonds with Harima grow stronger.

RECEPTION
School Rumble has been well received by English reviewers. Eduardo M. Chavez from Anime on DVD commented about the manga that "the execution and randomness is perfect. Readers can literally pick up this title, select a chapter and enjoy. Comedy like that is universal making it a must for readers from all demographics."[10] David Maduram stated that "The real strength of this series is its witty use of puns, wordplay, and comic situations." [11] Carl Kimlinger from Anime News Network comments that the anime involves "Great fun, a little more emotional depth, and two of the greatest animation non-sequiturs you're likely to see anytime soon".[12] Tim Jones from THEM Anime Reviews said about the second anime season that "School Rumble Second Semester manages to be funny without being repetitive and boring, a feat very hard to do in a series that goes on for 52 episodes (when you count the first season)." [13]

Media Factory has served a cease and desist notice to the website AnimeSuki to remove links to fansubs of their works which includes School Rumble;[14] AnimeSuki had a policy to remove links to a fansubbed anime should its license be purchased. Media Factory-owned anime is the subject of debate over the validity of fansubbing practice.[15][16]
My own thoughts about it..
It's somehow different from anime/manga of the sam genre... Cuz it's different that you don't really have an idea what's gonna happen next in other words t's not very cliched.. It even incorporates events somehow similar to other anime but then the whole thing is modified by purposively interesting twists that are sometimes weird..

I was wondering if anyone is reading it or know about it???

Actually, the anime series is awesome. Easily one of the funniest series ever, and it doesn't do what a lot of other anime series do ("I am a cute moeblob... LAUGH AT ME NOW" or "lol random shit am i funny yet!?"). It is something that is actually funny (which is rare for anime).
The manga series started off very similar, but it started getting really long and drawn and still is and could have easily ended a year ago.

I tried watching it once and I coldn't stomach it. Bunch of schoolgirls fawning over random guys. I didn't find it funny (I am not japanese enough). People always recommend it to me to watch (though they are the same people who think flcl is COMEDIC GENIUS AND ART so you can't actually trust their taste *_*)

I think that one anime I've seen was funny, but I can't remember its name. It was the one where the girl died like 5 times in the first episode.

school rumble is pretty average. it got some pretty good episodes but the quality varies way too much and most of the episodes are pretty boring. it does get better after the first episodes but i wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.

School Rumble is ok. It's not bad but it's definitely no masterpiece. The best parts in it are generally parodies - Initial D, Battle Royale etc.
<Drule> I can play the didgeridoo actually
<Drule> some guy on the street taught me
<Drule> come to think of it
<Drule> it was pretty gross how I played on his didgeridoo

so wrong...

Yea, it parodies many stuff.. I think it would be funnier if you actually know what they'r parodying, because they don't directly tell it though.. there's tons of them.

I haven't watched the anime, but I don't know if it's much different from the manga..

That would be Excel Saga.

Also, I watched the first episode of School Rumble, and decided it wasn't for me.

I have tried both the manga and the anime, and have concluded that the anime was funnier.

On the other hand, it's humor lies in its ridiculous characters most of the time, thus making it Excel Saga set in high school (except without the annoying hyper-paced speech of Excel).  The anime is average to decent - its humor is hit and miss and often depends on the viewer's tastes, so you'd have to really be otaku-like in personality to enjoy it from start to end, and unlike other humor shows like Honey and Clover and Azumanga Daioh, it doesn't have that realistic layer behind it that makes you feel happy for the characters once the show ends.  The characters are caricatures; the show knows it and doesn't even try to make you feel anything for them.

It's something to watch once or twice for the laughs and forget about.  Nothing really special about it.

I laughed hard at School Rumble actually :X
It's the type of anime that makes you think this is happening but not really but I guess after the
it kinda went a bit downhill then uphill.

"Hey Harima, you're in this class"
"what O_O *looks*"
*sees Harry Mackenzie*
"What the fuck is this, some kinda white cracker?!" *punches out friend*

That sounds really gay when just typed, but I loved that in the first episode. ;(

You got it Nessiah, its completely unpredictable. When did e become mmoses guy? do you mean the time when he had the animals and became a fortune teller?

@CHrist: Yea, I laughed at that part too. Actually Harry will be introduced far later in the series. Funny there names sound alike with Harima Kenji.

 :fogetcool:
i really like eri or yakumo to be with harima.. I'm starting to hate tenma, beacuse' she's just so tupid.

I feel that the following is an accurate plot summary of School Rumble:

Sorry for imageshack, gw uploader seems to be down.

I personally felt a bit like I was wasting time pretty much the whole time I was watching it, despite the fact that it's fairly entertaining. I'd imagine that if you are amused for a significant amount of time by the animated bouncing hair above or are very into your anime then this might be something that you would enjoy a lot. Otherwise there are better things that you could be spending your time doing.
