OK, It should be no Secret, I'm a fan of Zombies, I'm a Fan of Resident evil.
But Fuck you capcom.

Theres a new Resident evil 5 Trailer out, It can be viewed here.
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2036.html

Now im sorry, I thought we were getting Resident evil 5, Not resident evil 4 in Africa.

Lets see, Mad Dictator Style guy. Who is no doubt a Puppet in the whole scheme of things.

CHECK

Parasite zombies which the game will make out to be a HUGE surprise to the player Instead of Traditional and loveable regular zombies. I was happy with Screaming zombies that ran straight at you, The trailer showed they had speed. But i always thought that zombies not dying from headshots was FUCKING cheap and the big blade thing that came out was annoying.

CHECK

A Guy with a Sack Over his head and with a Chainsaw......

CHECK

An Ethnic Minority FEMALE character to show that the game is not A)Racist B)Sexist, Who no doubt is wearing a revealing costume not suited for combat at all.

CHECK

As much as i enjoyed Resident evil 4, I found that it did not feel like a resident evil at all. Hell, Change Leon's name and its pretty much unrelated to Resident evil. From the early trailers of this game it was looking good, The game felt like there could be a survival horror element still in there, It was starting to feel a fresh change. Then this trailer comes out and its resident evil 4 in Africa. I wouldn't be surprised if the beginning opens.
"The president called me, Turns out his daughter had been kidnapped while she was in Africa. After the sexual Harassment charges she took out against Leon the president thought it best to send me."

I'm not as Thrilled with this game as i once was. I will get it, And play it, And probably have a blast. But i get the feeling it's going to be not quite right, just like RE4 was.
What do you guys think of this new trailer?

I'm hoping this game will have some relevance to the Resident Evil plotline, and it supposedly does. The Ebola (or Enola/Ebora, whatever it is) virus, from which the T-virus developed, was discovered in Africa, if my memory serves me right. I hope we'd finally get to see Spencer.

Looks better than RE4 to me. That game went really lame after you got out of the village, which was such an atmospheric place. The castle was boring as hell and the island was just dull.

I don't really mind RE4, it's a pretty good game on its own, and it's probably more appealing to a wider range of people than the traditional RE formula. Still, I'm a big fan of RE, and it's kinda sad to see them follow the new direction without looking back. I was hoping they'd do both kinds of games, the old adventure-survival-horror-with-bad-controls REs as well as the newer action-packed games. Or maybe they'd find a good balance, the new games just lack the Resident Evil feeling.

I guess it's part of game evolution. The RE5 trailer was pretty horrible, basically because it was just RE4 in different setting. One of the coolest thing about RE4 is that it tried something new, and now they'll just copy it for the next 3 or 4 games before they try something radical again. I don't want to seem like someone who's against games trying new ideas and breaking out of their fixed gameplay (let's face it, all REs before 4 were basically the same but in different settings, just like RE5 probably), but I can't deny that I preferred the older games. Button mashing and fighting tens of some random ethnicity at once gets boring fast.

I also loved Umbrella and Wesker, slow dumb zombies, and the formidable Tyrant. You had too much ammo in RE4, and you always had to clear every room, and it goes on for too long without any real rewards aside from some of the cheesiest dialogue ever (that's not even funny-bad like the previous games). Like I said, RE4 is a good game on its own, and RE5 will probably be good too, but maybe they shouldn't be called Resident Evil after all.

ps. RE5 looks pretty racist too, even if it sounds like a dumb accusation. It's not that you can't have black zombie-things, it's the way the trailer portrays them and the place they live in, even before (I presume) they turn bad. It's not comparable to Spanish or Hispanic zombies because they don't have such imagery attached to them. Throwing in a random black character doesn't help, either. In the end, you're a white guy killing angry black people.

Yeah, the story is set in Africa because they wanted to explore the origions of the virus, the Ebola virus in other words. As for Spencer, he was most likely the guy sitting in the chopper during a cutscene in Umbrella Chronicles.

I don't think the game looks shit by any means but it DOES look like RE4 with different graphics. I had hoped to see more zombies as well since the first trailer kinda suggested it but you never know... I'm not going to call this a bad game because of some trailer - grow up.

I love how the added a black chick and white zombies to combat the racism which (as a black man myself) I didnt think needed to be combated lol.
Yay! Random words!

This isn't even Resident Evil anymore..

I demand an abandoned city! I demand Umbrella! And most importantly... I demand slow moving, shuffling, moaning, reanimated corpses!

Man, I don't really care for RE4 and I don't care for this one either, I just want to say that I hope to god they'll never go back to the horrible controls of RE1-RE3.

Those controls were shit but the games had far better settings and themes. And real zombies.

Capcom should make an RE similar to 28 Weeks Later. Everything is contained but then HOLY SHIT AN OUTBREAK! I'd love to be in the midst of an outbreak, watching hundreds of zombies devouring small crowds of people trying to flee.

I don't know what's so terrible about this being RE4 in Africa.

I mean, RE 1 to 3 were practically the same in different settings(though i guess they were similiar settings) too! I wouldn't be surprised RE4 to 6 follows a similiar pattern, and then RE7 to 9.... ;)

This looks pretty cool. Sure it's racist but then again, I don't care. And you know they'll tie it to the ALREADY PAINFULLY RIDICULOUS story somehow. It doesn't even matter anymore because they can pull off any kind of fucking crazy stunt and BAM, it works into the story.

So seriously, I am looking forward to this.
For all the good reasons.

christ that trailer was awful. i didn't like resident evil 4 much at all. i mean it was faster, the controls were better sure but i just didn't dig all the mystic shit and the general awfulness of the plot. i'm not a huge gameplay guy, i get bored of pretty much every game really quickly and the things that make me play on are the story, music, setting atmosphere or just a desire to see more of the game world. it's never cos the shooting is so fun or whatever, cos while that stuff can be a blast in the short term i'm not gonna complete a game for it.

i don't believe this game is intended as racist, but it is pretty hilarious how easily that trailer can be interpreted that way "there's no humanity here" - god damn. also "i'm not as big as you, but i can hold my own" "heh that's cool my last partner was a woman" - hate it. hate the whole thing, it looks awful and pretty much the same shit as resident evil four except with added controversial enemies.

you know what i think it is, i don't get much fun out of a white american male going into some distant village and shooting the fuck out of enchanted natives. there's no cheesey fun there. the older games were cool, it was zombitopia in a decayed urban setting and i can get into that because it's just total nonsense and entertaining. i liked seeing corporate logos with blood all over them, and neon signs with letters knocked out. i liked the modern environment, and i'm one of those guys who gets a thrill out of urban decay for whatever reason it is. so i'm not into this version of resident evil because for all the talk of it being new, it's just a generic action game with a setting that doesn't particularly appeal to me and a plot and characters which depress me.

i've kind of rambled, but the gist is pssh i won't be getting this.

i think it's just stupidity that has led capcom made the decision to have the enemy in this game be HORDES OF AFRICANS and make comments like "there's no humanity here" over pictures of an african village, but you seem to think it's intentional - "sure's it's racist" - and you don't care and think this game looks like great stuff!!!

like, i would say anyone who would buy a game they believe to been created with racist intentions because they just didn't give a shit about racism is a bit of a dickhead. i don't even get why you say these things it's like you just want to annoy people.

What if it's somewhat racist? It's still just a god damn game. I'm not racist. It's not my fault they had to do something like this. I wouldn't have minded it if instead of africans they made you slaughter morbidly obese people with baby faces. It's a game, and I'm going to play it regardless. If the creator is racist and wants to showcase black people being slaughtered, to hell with him.

I'm not going to boycott a game I could enjoy just because whoever made it is a huge motherfucker.

....if that was the case I'd be stuck not playing alot of games because they're mostly Japanese... hmm

What's racist about being in a country with africans? All those FPS games that takes place in Vietnam, aren't they racist as well when you run around killing hordes of asians? No one seemed to care about killing spanish people in RE4 either.

Geez, get over it. Hypocrisy at its worst.

This is not racist, come on. I don't even think you guys would be bringing up discrimination if this game...

  • Was set in Tokyo and had us killing Japanese zombies.
  • Plopped us in Israel to kill Jewish zombies. Or Jewbies as I'd probably call them.
  • Stuck us in India to kill zombie Indians. Or zombie elephants.

Also I bet nobody would be too concerned if RE5 starred a black man shooting up zombies in a small, white Texan town.

But oh no... There's black people! Racism!

Guys, there's no racism here, haha.. Some people are just way to sensitive or paranoid over race.

you pay for the game right? so you give the company money, and the racist ideologue who came up with the ideas in the first place gets paid for his bullshit and the game is treated as a success - this is a hypothetical ideologue, not in reference to RE5. i'm not calling you anything other than a bit of a dickhead here because all you're showing is a disregard for the kind of damage this thing can do - and it can, like for example the kid who plays this and gets it into his head that africans are all a bunch of cannibalistic zombie maniacs or the adult racist who plays this and feels his beliefs are being validated and sympathised with.

i'm not saying it's the most damage racism can do, you're right that this is "just a game", but just because it's not as bad as some other bullshit, you think it's okay to indulge in it because you like to shoot shit in videogames. if that's the case, then go ahead and have a great time.

i don't think the issue is that it is set in africa, it's the portrayl of the zombie hordes, you know? vietnam games are based on actual events, right? so it's got more of a leg to stand on against racist allegations than a game which creates a situation where a white american male goes around exterminating african villagers. plus people probably wouldn't even think to make the accusation against a vietnam game because the vietnam war is still a pretty well known part of modern history and everyone's mind would go there before anything else.

so it's not the setting that people are getting offended or concerned by, it's how this game is choosing to invent this situation and portray the villagers.

again i am not saying this game is an intentionally racist game, so no-one start arguing with me about that please.

War games are based on actual events, yes, but you'll know they bastardize the enemies in them. American propaganda if you will.

But just to make everything clear:

Are you siding with people like Jack Thompson arguing that videogames give off wrong moral values?

Clearly you never played any of the Medal of Honor games where the Americans goes rambo and kicks everyones ass and potrays their enemies as mindless beasts with no morals whatsoever (e.g. vietnames, germans, middle east countries).
