As Bender’s Big Score gets set to air in four installments on Comedy Central later this month, Fox Home Entertainment ahs announced that the next adventure in the series of Futurama DVD movies will be available at retail this summer. The Fate of human and robot-kind is at stake when Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs debuts at retail on June 24.

In what Fox is calling the most tentacle-packed Futurama epic, space itself rips open, revealing a gateway to another universe. What lies beyond is a mix of horror and love as the Planet Express crew encounters a repulsive, planet-sized monster with romantic intentions.

The second feature-length Futurama film will be followed by at least two more movies from series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The show’s entire voice cast and most of its main writers have returned to help revive the series, which FOX cancelled in 2003. Groening, who also created The Simpsons, has told us that Futurama is the animated show he’s most proud of. Those who haven’t picked up Bender’s Big Score on DVD yet can catch it on Comedy Central on March 23 at 8 p.m.

Any Futurama fans here? In a way I'm glad they're making movies rather than another series. Its a bit of a change. And it also gives time for development, which is always a good thing in a character driven series. Last movie was pretty good, what you guys think?

Hey, it only took them a year to make 3-4 episodes worth of show, I'm impressed.

Was I the only one that didn't realy like Bender's Big Score? Aside from when Barbados Slim got crushed by the door, it wasn't even funny. But on the other hand, Futurama as a series was great, so I'll definatelly give this second movie a chance.

yeah I wasn't really into Bender's Big Score either. It was more or less interesting to follow as a movie, but it just wasn't all that funny (especially when compared to the tv episodes)

I didn't like the song in Benders Big Score, but I did like the story and really didn't expect Lars to be Fry. I thought they did a pretty good job with that twist, but the whole time paradox just got confusing and pointless.

Actually, the instant I saw Lars I was pretty sure that he was Fry! Even that it must somehow be related to the paradox came to my head. But the brown hair kind of threw me off when I gave it more thought. And the time paradox confused me too. It seemed like there'd be an extra Fry stuck in the past with all these time jumps, from what I understood.

I rather they actually make a new series than movies. I liked Bender's Big Score but it wasn't all that funny compared to the series.

Maybe after the movies are done, Box will let them do the show again, I mean deliver more packages on a weekly basis.

Yeah, a new series would be much better than just a bunch of different movies. I liked "Bender's Big Score" but a lot of the time it was like the jokes were kind of taking a back seat to the plot... I'm still looking forward to this, though!

I feel like this always happened to some extent in the series, though. Like, not MAN THIS IS UNFUNNY WHERE'RE THE JOKES, but just the plot or the characters being the focal point and the jokes just sort of being there too. Anyway, I don't really want a new series because idk, it feels like they'd just fuck it up. Bender's Big Score was alright but it wasn't really up to par with how good Futurama was by season 5 (that was the last season, right?). I'm fine with them making these movies as sort of a way to give people something more, but I wouldn't want an entire season or two of this.

They better put something good for the bonus in the next movies. The episode of Hypnotoad was kind of funny the first 30 seconds, because I wondered if it was actually just Hypnotoad doin' his thing, but it got old really fast.

I saw the cover of the movie somewhere, but I can't remember. I think it's called Futurama and the creature with a Thousand Backs. It has some blackhole lookin' thing with tentacles comin' out of it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's on the Wikipedia page. It has the kind of 50s B-Movie vibe to it.
