Only $400-500 more? Yes, exactly... You're now basically saying "I don't care to pay twice as much" when before you said you didn't want to shell out a huge amount...
In short, I'm saying that a 24" is perfectly fine for seeing from 4-6 feet away...

As for brands... Just don't get Sony or AOC because they both suck major balls... And for anything else, just be sure to check the specs thoroughly.

You might want to take a look at the LG Scarlet series, for example...

I never said that. I said I don't want to pay more than around $1200. That 400-500 more is based on $600, thus, around $1000-$1100. Get it?

This site ships to Canada too, the total cost would be about $1240, shipping included, which is about the most I'd like to spend.

Also, again, I will be sitting 9-10 feet away, maybe more. I've even measured out distances in the room I'm putting this, it could be as many as 12. A 24" monitor just isn't what I'm looking for! I'm not saying it's a BAD option, especially not if you're only 4 feet away from it, ie leaning back from your desk, but it will not be what I want in this room. I appreciate the suggestion, it's just not for me.

Edit: Here, this is my point:

This is a similar monitor to the one crumply has suggested. Notice the price BEFORE taxes and shipping. After taxes and shipping to my home, it is $910. Now take the TVs I linked to in my first post. After shipping (no taxes because it's an American site), they are only ~$1250, give or take. That's a little over 300 dollars difference. I'm more than willing to pay that for the size bonus, especially where I don't want to use it for both my PC and game console.

Popping in to give my $.02!

Rowain, I read your posts and from my experience and what you describe, you'll honestly want nothing smaller than 32'' at the viewing distance you mentioned. I bought a 32'' Samsung a year ago, and my viewing distance is roughly 6-7 feet and at times I wish I went bigger.

There's a specific screen size to viewing distance ratio that gives a guide line to follow. One has to remember that with 16:9 aspect ratio there's a lot more content being shown at once vs. 4:3, so the proper ratio between viewing distance and screen size is necessary. I'd recommend 37-42'' for a 10' viewing distance, as long as you can find a good deal and afford it.

As for brands, I can recommend Samsung via experience. Oh and LCD. LCD TV's have made huge bounds over the recent years, and while it's true that their black levels aren't as good as plasma, LCD still performs comparable enough. That and Plasma's have a shorter lifespan and as other posters have mentioned, are ideal for 42+ sizes and above.
