Okay so I know some of you are Dance Dance Revolution Players, I too fit into this group, but since the supernova 2 topic (yuck!) I've always wanted to know where I rank among GW Players.

I guess just post similarly to how I'm going to do and post a bit of information about things I guess...

Quote
Main Game: In The Groove, DDR, Stepmania, Etc.
Play Style: Single, Double, Both
Foot Level: (self explanatory)
Years Playing: (as above)
Additional Info: yak yak yak

Main Game: In The Groove, 2
Play Style: Single and Double
Foot Level: Single: 12      Double: 9
Years Playing: 1
Additional Info:
I started playing about this time last year after playing stepmania (thank you Magi for having it in your sig at one stage), after I became like a 8 (lol) with my fingers, I swapped to feet.
I first started playing on feet in the arcade, learning off DDR Extreme, but when I discovered that Perth, (Australia, not the other one) is home to one of the FEW In The Groove 2 machines in the world (only 2 in australia currently, with a potential 3rd one coming within the month to another arcade near my home), I swapped straight over, the arrows were easier to see and the learning curve was a lot easier.
I still play DDR regularly of course because it is a good game, but ITG2 really keeps me because our machine lets us add custom songs via USB drive to play...
Anyway wrapping this up, as of 3 weeks ago I became a successful 12, achieving around 91% on Delirium and mid to high 80s on others like Go 60 Go and I hope to eventually reach the 14 foot mark (my friend can fucking do it, what the hell?)
We hacked our ITG2 machine to have every DDR Mix and Mungyodance1 and 2 mixes on there too so we aussies are loving it over here.

Main Game: Stepmania, DDR
Play Style: Single
Foot Level: 5
Years Playing: ?
Additional Info: I've never really played that much, but this year I joined the DDR club at my school (though I didn't play much DDR there) and now I've become the new president of said club (I was the only one to volunteer).  I've been practicing most days this summer, and hopefully I'll have my skills up to a more respectable level by the end of summer.

Main Game: Hacked ITG PS2 game (includes ITG1-3 songs)
Play Style: Single
Foot Level: Single: 7-9 (I did manage to pass Queen of Light Expert though which is the easiest 10 on ITG)
Years Playing: Hard to say.. I originally bought DDR: Konamix back when that came out, and after playing it I only managed to get to basic. I sort of stopped playing one day because the rest of my family laughed at me for playing it :(... A few years later I rediscovered DDR by buying Supernova, and the rest of my family actually started playing and enjoying the game. I then bought DDR Max 2 and Extreme 2 - both great games. My whole family went into a dancing craze. Then of course Supernova 2 - both the US and Japanese releases. Recently I discovered ITG - unfortunately I had to download it from the internet and swap magic it because I couldn't get a hold of an actual copy. I really enjoyed it so much - a lot more than DDR whose step artists seem to be lazy and uninspired nowadays. Anyway, I also found a download to a hacked ITG with all ITG songs on them and that's the main game I play now. I'm still saddened at Roxor's legal loss of the franchise... oh what could have been...
Additional Info: I seem to be stuck in the 8-9 foot range. I don't know if it's my stamina that's killing me, or the immense amount of arrows that are thrown at you at the same time. I'm a strictly 1x player... I loathe speed modifiers. I think I'm in the minority though because everyone else always plays 1.5x or above. What can I say? I learned playing on 1x and I've always done it. I still can't believe that are some expert players around who say they can't read at that speed. For me, once you get to 2x and above it's a completely different game - target practice instead of arrow pattern recognition. I read arrows as groups of patterns like music and that's how I play.

I've never cared for PAing or FAing - I play solely to have fun. 7, 8, and some 9s are fun for me. I don't know if I have the motivation to go higher as those stepcharts just seem brutal to me. Maybe someday I'll get there, but for now I'm content playing mainly 8s.

More additional info - I built a homemade metal DDR pad last summer with my brother-in-law. I'm hoping to build another one this summer so that I can finally try out doubles on metal pads instead of soft mats.

Even more additional info - I've never played DDR or ITG in an arcade. There is an ITG2 machine in a movie theatre nearby that I've been itching to try though.

I advise you to try ITG2 out near that theatre Mateui, if the pad conditions are good you may find yourself going there almost every day like what I do...
Regarding speed mods, I am of the majority who..... find it incredibly difficult to read on 1x speed, that said I CAN still get moderately good scores on 8s and 9s but when you reach the 10, 11 and 12 mark it's just... impossible to play without speed mods...
The patterns still exist in the harder songs because I also read like that, however in order for me to be able to distinguish the patterns apart (too many fucking arrows), I need to put a speed mod on.

I guess another thing I forgot to ask...
Bar or No Bar?

Without bar I'm a 10, it's just too difficult to keep balance when moving so fast.

Main Game: DDR Extreme 2
Play Style: Single, Double some times
Foot Level: Singe 7-9, Double 3-6
Years Playing: 2 on and off
Additional Info: I play this game on and off because I have to drive to the other side of town to play it. But its only a quarter for two people so usually I end up going with someone else. I use the bar at times which I'm trying to improve on but for songs like Exotic Ethnic and Max 300 on heavy I can't do it without the bar. Granted I've only passed max 300 like once. I've been practicing songs lately within the range of 7-9 without bar and I've also been practicing heavily on cross-overs. I hate doing the two step seeing as how it takes more effort and puts me in a really awkward position.

As to the bar debate, I've never used it. I can see how it would make it easier on your stamina as you shift your weight up and back to your arms, and if it allows you to pass songs you wouldn't have been able without it, the go ahead and use it. I've managed without using a chair behind me all this time as a makeshift bar, so I'm going to try to keep improving without having to resort to using it.

Also, I'm really glad that there are 4 of us here! I know Bart used to play DDR in the past... I wonder if he still plays or not.

I'm trying real hard to get out of the bar but for the crossovers on Exotic Ethnic theres no way I can do it without bar. Shifting positions for those crossovers gets real tricky with bar. I'm trying to get out of the bar habit though, I used to not be able to do any heavy song without the bar and now I can happily say I've become less and less Dependant on the bar. I'm still not at the level I want to be at though.

Exotic Ethnic and Rhythm & Police are two of my favourite songs to play without the bar, heh...
I should take a video because I twist like crazy but I can still get AAs on each of them, it took weeks of practice though.

It's strange, I CAN do difficult songs but I find myself playing 7s and 8s most of all, songs like My Summer Love and Let's Groove are good accuracy builders.
Also to be honest I thought there'd be more ddr players here...

Lets Groove is a fun song when you want to do some silly moves. Me and My friend still do the disco point thing and spinning our fist in circles like idiots. I personally prefer Cowgirl if I want to some something stupid fun. Still do the cowboy gallop during the gallops. I can get AA's on like, 6-7's and sometimes 8.
