I can never see Tim Burtons Batman version with Jack Nicholson (lol) again after this.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I still thiink that Tim Burton's Batman is way better than this one. I even think Nicholson was a better Joker.

The Dark Knight IMDB Is on 9.7!! I wonder how many votes are for Heath Ledger? Has anyone seen this cause it doesn't come out till the 24th in New Zealand.

It is now at 9.5 with over 120,000 fucking votes and is #1 on the top 250 chart.  jesus.

how do emmy nominations work because i seriously don't think a summer blockbuster has been nominated for anything important.

^You mean Oscars? As far as I know there's a shortlist and then a big panel of industry people watch all the nominees and vote in the categories they're used for and they work it out that way. Something like that.

And summer blockbusters have won big awards from time to time. LOTR/Titanic and so on are good examples. I think TDK has a good chance of winning some solid awards!

I saw it again when I was in Quebec. God it's just as good the second time. I'm more than certain that
I really enjoy this series so far. There will definitely be more... This many box office blow outs, and no sequel? Yeah right!
My biggest hope is that they keep their cool and make it good. Third movies are always balls. I believe in Nolan.

Chris + John Nolan are not stupid. Everything they've written has been really solid, and they seem to have a good grip on what's stupid/good. I really doubt they'd bring back . That'd almost be cheap.

Just saw this last night.. AMAZING haha. Seriously this exceeded my expectations of the movie. Still think it's overrated though.

how do emmy Oscar nominations work because i seriously don't think a summer blockbuster has been nominated for anything important.

Go to www.awardsdaily.com for details. Basically, it starts with critics choice awards, which move up to Golden Globes then Guild Awards (SAG, PGA, WGA, DGA etc.) and then to Oscars. Kind of like World Cup.

Summer blockbusters usually get the tech noms (Visual Effects, Editing, Cinematography etc.) but there have been instances of blockbusters making it on the Best Picture shortlist:

Braveheart
Gladiator
The Sixth Sense
Silence of the Lambs
All the LOTR movies
The Departed
Titanic
Saving Private Ryan
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

to name some.

I can definitely see The Dark Knight slipping in there somewhere because of Oscar politics (they want people to tune in because DARK KNIGHT is nominated) and I think a lot of people are considering Heath Ledger a lock for Best Supporting Actor nomination, at least.

I'm not sure whether the Joker would be considered Best Supporting Actor or Best Actor! Honestly, it seems like he was just as main of a character as Batman.

Oscar politics would bump Heath down to Supporting Actor because that's the easier award to win (see: Ethan Hawke, "Training Day"; George Clooney, "Syriana"; Jamie Foxx, "Collateral"; Jake Gyllenhaal, "Brokeback Mountain")

Watching a costumed guy struggling to beat 1421234123 guys that brawl right on him is hilarious, especially if he is wearing an extremely tight porcelain mask! Also HOLYSHIT WHAT IS WRONG WITH BATMAN'S VOICE OH MY GOD. This movie was way bellow my expectations but it was pretty good nonetheless. I wish I'd get to see more of the Joker, but I guess that's not going to happen now! :(

EDIT: I think the only character that I genuinely liked is Two-Face, and that was unexpected since all his previous incarnations were very shit

REALISM REALISM YES YES YES!!!

also, correct me if I'm wrong, but in batman begins when Bruce is making the Batman costume, it is explained that the neck is covered with a vocal chord mod thingy so his voice comes out different.

CHRISTIAN BALE ARRESTED!
Quote
"The Dark Knight" actor Christian Bale has been arrested in connection with an allegation of assault following reports that he assaulted his mother and sister, according to the U.K.'s Telegraph.

Bale said the allegations were false Tuesday, hours after the Wales-born actor was arrested, questioned by London police and released on bail. The 34-year-old actor spent four hours talking with authorities but was not charged.

British media reported that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before attending the European premiere of "The Dark Knight." The Sun newspaper said the complaint was filed by sister Sharon Bale and mother Jenny Bale.
:hmm:
