At DreamHack Summer 2008 there was apparently a 23 minutes long showing of Far Cry 2, in front of 7 500 geeks sweaty with anticipation (and equipped with signal horns apparently). The video shows two missions, six or so weapons and lots of action. Here it is:
This looks kind of cool, although the setting doesn't exactly entice me. The large, open, seamless world seems pretty awesome, like you can see at the end with the glider. The graphics stuff looks pretty much like Crysis (or, well, obviously the cryengine2 tech demos) so nothing very new there.
I wonder how much of an open world this is. They say there are 9 playable characters, and the ones that you don't choose will still be part of the story, which sounds like there should be lots of room for the player to choose where it goes. The guy says the world is very large but the tiny bit of road he has to cover to get to the pipeline base kind of counteracts that point. I hope there isn't so much stuff crammed in everywhere, it feels a bit odd how he got the mission to blow the place up from a guy a few hundred meters away :P

So yeah, this looks like a cool game. Especially once he leaves the jungle area and gets to the savanna. The grass is pretty cool, and the fire!

Also it's nice how it crashes during the presentation, and also when he shoots a rocket at an apparently indestructible tower (?)

- daily dinosaur is awesome!

There is lots of fun to be had here!

I watched this a couple of hours ago, it was pretty cool. It's stupid that they're trying to hype the game though by saying "LOOK! 50 Square Kilometers! Its bigger than OBLIVION!!", when I really don't care about how big the world is. I care about the content, and if half of that stuff is barren wasteland(which it looks to be), then it's all pointless.
But aside from that, I really like the look of this game. I like being able to choose which people you want to help out and what sides to take, so I'll enjoy it once it comes out. They've packed tons of animations into the game, just like Crysis. Though it still seems they're putting more effort into the environments than the actual gameplay(I don't care about WIND MECHANICS).

I didn't really watch much but that buddy thing sounds quite cool.

Btw, africa..... I skipped throughout the video and couldn't actually see anyone he was shooting, are they all blacks. I bet they're all blacks.

The AI is going to suck in this game, it already sucks in the demo and I doubt they are going to fix it. Sure they can show off some cool stuff here and there but for the most part the combat looked boring. The graphics are really pretty though.

There's really nothing new in that gameplay video but yeah, it does look cool. It's not as impressive anymore since it gets released a year after Crysis or so but the world looks fantastic and I like the whole fire spreading idea. My main problem with Crysis was that it was way too short but seriously, Far Cry 2 is not going to be 50 hours like they say. And if it will be, 35-40 hours of that will be aimless wandering or something. I don't really mind the open-ended world since I think it will be fun to explore in any case. Something about Far Cry 2 just doesn't really make me all that excited but I'll probably get it eventually. I like the buddy system idea and it's supposed to be pretty realistic and you die quickly and I like the sound of that. The setting is pretty cool but I'm not really expecting much from the story and after seeing games like HL2, Bioshock and Crysis doing such a great job with that, it's a bit disappointing. I hope the atmosphere will be good though.

From what I've read about it, it seems like it's going to be more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than anything.  The fire propagation system looks cool.
