Duping where a good thing though for some items. Without dupes how would we have had our ridiculous currency system of sojs and 290 small charms? Although crazy dupes like those "ith" items (rune worded items with all of the sockets magically empty) where crushed... they let us keep the 290s and sojs... which was pretty cool of them. I don't know if they changed it... but I couldn't imagine how trading would have been without them.

Working as intended.

I think they just couldn't delete them because rings and charms (and amulets) don't have the item fingerprint that all "big items" do have. That's why they couldn't "delete all 10 000 sojs with fingerprint 6xAor82" or something. But yeah, I'd imagine Blizzard has come a long way since D2 and LoD in terms of network security. How's the situation in WoW, any maphacks or dupes around there?

nah all items (ALL OF EM) have a unique fingerprint, so that's not true.

Also, WoW doesn't have any map hacks (WELLLLLL cartographer but thats a ui mod that unviels the whole map lolo. fully legal, doesn't show you shit but where you can go on the world map) and stuff, but that's an MMO, it's completely different in general.

for you mebe, but for the people who get it we actually derive more enjoyment out of it since it's obviously fun to us to have the best guy and shit.

people who get good at the game by exploiting external statistics data and capitalizing on every possible exploitable facet of the game engine?

it doesn't seem like a fun way to play to me

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

Can someone explain to me what the fuck metagame is

how can you pvp and not know this !_!

metagame is just game beyond/inside the game.

ie in WoW pvp (this might be old idk) arena 2v2 metagame is sub rogue/x, resto druid/x, etc. the top stuff that people run.

in gw pvp gvg metagame is balanced, hexway, dervsmite, etc.

in d2 metagame can mean building your character to be the top that is possible in his class, building the best he can be in a certain archetype (ie: fragile glass cannon amazon, or light sorc etc) or it can mean the trading metagame (SoJ economy etc), or it can mean the pvp metagame as well.

Maybe I'm being dense but isn't knowing what's effective and DOING IT just the Game rather than the metagame

Nah, there's a pretty big difference here it's just hard to explain. People can know what's effective and do it and that's the metagame yes (ROGUE/X OWNS. I BETTER ROLL ROGUE CAUSE IM MINDLESS SHEEP), but metagaming (which is what we're talking about really i'm just too lazy to say it all the time) is using the knowledge of the metagame to give yourself the most advantage possible.

ie

o warlocks are the meta right now i better take a strong decurser.
or in gw o massive offense is the meta right now i better take a bit more anti melee shit.

A lot of people can know the metagame, but aren't metagaming because they don't take advantage of it. Most players in most online games are just sheep who follow the trends, because they don't really get what is going on. Ask most rogues why they are overpowered right now. Most don't know why, most will deny they are, and very few know what is up. A lot of em roll rogues because they are "in".

i am probably explaning this pretty bad cause im tired so here is a wiki article on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metagame

I'm  pretty sure at least potions and runes don't have fingerprints. Oh well!

If duping isn't rampart in WoW, it probably won't be in D3 either. That's a good thing. So, what do you guys think, will D3 online be free?

I'm wondering how they even can.. In Diablo 1, the main character just seals Diablo away inside of themselves in a very unsafe and stupid way. A sequel was obvious. However, in Diablo 2.. They sort of DESTROYED DIABLO'S SOUL so.. I don't see how he'll come back at all. I hope that the game is Diablo in name only.

But UPRC! Who will be the final boss?
Fucking Tyrael. Yes, Tyrael. I've been BETTING on this since I completed Lord of Destruction. Tyrael. Final Boss. Diablo 3.

But then again there is DIABLO in the cinematic teaser. Or maybe it is Tireal's twisted version...

Almost every MMO out there is dupe free because of the server infrastructure and such. They are specifically built to require very little data in the client to prevent this. Doing this with a non-MMO that also has a single player portion and shit is pretty hard and not worth it when there isnt any monthly payments coming in.

Also yes, because it uses b.net.

Unless someone uses an sql inject to gain access to the gm utilities or use a script in an 'out of game client' (botting program) to log in multiple instances of the same character. So far these are the only ways I've seen dupes done in mmos... and they where always detected and the exploits hammered out within minutes.

yeah prettymuch that. Guild Wars had a duping bug in it with its reconnection feature. people would force themselves to get d/c'd while receiving an item from trade, and their item wouldn't send from the trade, but they'd receive a duplicate of the item they put in when they reconnect. Do this with people you know and you could make tons of duped shit. a lot of it is probably still in the market too.

Tons of info from a break down analysis of the trailer. Runes, gems, and such all in!

Blizzard took down half this shit off of their forums so yeah.

Man... adding skill cooldowns is a pretty heavy blow to D2's combat system. It changes the game entirely.

oh jesus what does any of this shit mean

but uh I only read the first page because well I am not really interested in this game at all since I found diablo 2 pretty boring and never played diablo 1 and a bunch of other people may have already said this but I only saw velfarre say it but I really dislike the atmosphere. it doesn't feel SPOOKY or anything just really DARK and BROWN. I guess I just prefer games that are more colorful or at least more bright (half the time in D2 I couldn't see what the hell I was doing)
Anyway... I played a bit of this... And I'm not so fond of the setting. I hate that whole ghetto "gangsta fo life" thing, and I've never been much of a baseball player.

basically HL is one of those guys that gets suckered into STATGRIND games and takes them really seriously and gets pissed off at anyone else how doesn't share his opinion or something. At least this is the impression I am getting. Just ignore all of HL's posts in this topic pretty much.
