Well, I was kinda joking about that because I find it to be more annoying than a serious problem or whatever, but I do think stuff like that really does more harm than good sometimes! It's like how people would probably be more open-minded towards something like vegetarianism if there weren't people running around making 'battery farms = holocaust' pamphlets and all that stuff... So yeah, I don't doubt that they have good intentions but I think that just shouting condescending slogans at people can cause a bit of a backlash and can make important stuff seem more trivial than it really is.

yeah I really really wish bands wouldn't try to be political, it really just seems like marketing to me more than anything

like whoa we're college students and have liberal opinions about things and radiohead does too that's amazing!!

I don't think that's a responsibility.  They should play good music first and foremost, and if they throw in a little political opinion, I can stomach that.  It's just when every song (Rage Against the Machine) is preaching about some issue or another, it gets kind of cheesy.

However, it's good that they shine light on a lot of issues some people ordinarily would never hear about.

hahahaha, cheesy is the wrong word but I know where he's coming from! It gets pretty preachy after a while, I mean the average fan does not LIVE AND BREATH POLITICS so it wouldn't kill them to write about something different!

(fuck I am listening to Yngwie Malmsteen as I type this, cheesy is definitely the wrong word)
