My point is that "music critics" are like turtles that hide in their shell and make up ridiculous biases towards different "musical genres" for no reason.  Woe befall any man that mentions RAP on a major internet forum because you'll have 300 white kids popping up going "RAP IS CRAP LOLOLOLOLOL" even though their only experience with the music is SOULJA BOY and whatever MTV and BET is whoring out.

There's plenty of fun to be had in exploring what you're unfamiliar with and Guitar Hero/Rock Band is more or less a reflex based puzzle game set to music.  If you get over your seething hatred of Linkin Park or Panic At the Disco and actual play the damn thing you might find that, *gasp*, A) it's still the same game mechanics B) it might actually challenge you and C) it could be fun.

If I paid 90$ for a mix tape I'd listen to every song even if I had the preconception in my mind that "because this is a band i don't normally listen to i probably won't like it!"

hahaha I can't wait to play Duran Duran.

Seriously stop complaining that they don't have your personal favourite tracks on there. They're never gonna please everyone :/

Still no Led Zepplin for either side. I wounder what there hold up is, I know Led Zepplin doesn't like giving away song rights and stuff, but with the popularity now I just don't think they could pass it up. I want some Achiller Last Stand!

nah i understand it.

and trust me, even though there's not many bands i like in the game i end up liking a lot anyway (and sometimes even get some music from the bands)

but...i've listened to PANIC! at the disco and Linkin Park before...like a LOT of them. PANIC! at the disco is not really all "OH NO EMO" but i don't understand it fitting in the game, maybe i'll be wrong.

but Linkin Park i just don't like! :(

Yeah, I mean Panic! sucks, but don't necessarily deserve being called emo all the time, it's just they don't have prominent guitar, bass, or drum parts AT ALL. It's mostly keys, iirc.

Well NiN's The Hand That Feeds is all/mostly synth isn't it? And they made it into a mic, drums, bass, lead for RB.

...

there is bass and drums and singing in the song. and it's a synth-sounding effect on the guitar, it's still a guitar!

Well my knowledge of THTF is off the music video and on that I don't remember seeing any guitars during the performance. Just Trent singing and that other dude playing the synth keyboard.

Also I've been told by a friend in the past that Trent often does entire songs by himself by playing the instruments one by one and mixing them together later.

NiN get a free pass into Rock Band simply because NiN is awesome.

My only complaint is that Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody isn't on the list.  That would be incredible.

Harmonix ripped Konami in the first place.

That's debatable. By the time Harmonix released Frequency, Rhythm based games were basically a genre. The games were different, since Konami had mostly done DDR, and you could better call the DDR clones the rip-offs. Harmonix did (I'm pretty sure) the first singing games, but they were published by Konami. Just because Konami decided to be dicks and patent this shit doesn't mean Harmonix is ripping them off. However, Guitar Hero was a guitar game, and when Harmonix went with EA for Rock Band, Activision and Neversoft tried to pick up GH, and seeing the success of rock band, added all that other shit to the game. Technically, they are ripping off Harmonix because it was their idea to do a full band thing.

What most people fail to realize is, they try to get the fan favorites the best they can.  If you want to bitch at anyone for your favs not being there, bitch at the music labels that holds out for more money, refuse to get their artist on a video game, etc.  There is more behind-the-scenes issues than just "we are going to put old and obscure things in the list just to top it off".  That isn't what actually happens.  Contract negotiations are probably going to be the #1 reason certain bands/songs have not made it on this or GH.
