there are only two good sonic games and they were both made in the early 90s. there are also maybe 20 bad sonic games. i don't get why this is such a surprise.

it might be because i m not a sonic fan(mario >>> sonic lol), but come on! this is almost as good as mushroom kingdom hearts, except this is real.

I dunno why this is a bad thing. IMO this is no different than MARIO IN SPACE.

People keep expecting the same game over and over, but the bottom line is we're NOT going to get Sonic & Tails again, just as we aren't going to get Super Mario Brothers again.

It looks to me like Sonic team is trying their hands at making various types of games and using Sonic as the figurehead. Aside from really shitty controls, none of the sonic games have been that bad. I think it's hilarious Sonic is criticized for Shadow having a part when we have Wario/Waluigi and other pairs like that.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic but people seem a little too quick to jump on the WELL THEY DID IT AGAIN bandwagon.

To me Sonic was about the fantastic level design. The first handful of levels could be beaten by holding down right and pressing 'a' to jump over obstacles but the later levels turned into puzzle filled labyrinths and if you tried to speedrun through those on your first attempt you'd run into a wall or die a horrible death.

None of the newer Sonic games have captured the same feeling of "weird and unique world + precise platform action" because there's just so much happening at once in a Sonic level and it's near impossible to replicate in 3D. The newer sonic games have been really generic platformers with some kind of lame gimmick (shootan guns, racin folks, wagglestick, RPG, etc.)

The thing is, they don't have have to do 3D. If SNK and ArcSys works aren't enough to show people that 2D can still look good (The new King of Fighters, Guilty Gear and BlazBlue...) then I dunno! Then there's the SSF2:T HD Remix...2D is still going strong but they don't want to make a good nex-gen 2d sonic game. ;(

my guess is that they're releasing a large pile of garbage and waiting until sales reach the point where they're no longer making a profit (because believe it or not every new sonic game is a chart topper it's ridiculous). then, once the ip is no longer profitable they'll release a "classic" 2D sonic in the same vein as Mega Man 9 or something and everyone will buy it and go crazy.

Mario games have always been more about gameplay than anything else. I thought the idea was hokey when I first heard about it, but the game was tons of fun to play and it didn't matter anymore after that.

I think it sucks that Sonic's franchise has been on such a supposed decline. He's always been one of the cool heroes for me, but everything they throw him in now is just so lame. I don't know what they could do with him to bring back what made him great in the '90s, but it sure as hell isn't this! Or, I should say, it sure as hell doesn't look like this. The game could still be fun, however much the premise sucks.

we need a comedic sonic the hedgehog the animated series style game. something that doesn't take itself seriously, doesn't feature furry romance plot arcs, and isn't all grim and dark with 30 different characters no one cares about.

and eggman needs to be changed back to robotnik but because sonic will be voiced by jaleel white he'll call him "robuttnik" and say shit like "it's all about speed, keed."

sonic just lost all of the fun it once had. whatever happened to his love of chili dogs, hmm?
