So here's one I can almost guarantee none of you have heard of.  They're called Straight Line Stitch, they just signed to Koch (COCK lol!) records last year, and the lead singer (Alexis, pic above) is from the town where I live.

The history of this band is something that is almost beyond me.  All I really know about them is that Alexis was the lead singer for a band called FSN (no idea what that stands for) out of Erin, Tennessee, which is my hometown.  Apparently they were good enough to have bumper stickers made and formed a nice little following in Erin before moving on to Clarksville.  At this point I guess some of the members from Erin were replaced with members from Knoxville and now the only person from our area that remains in Straight Line Stitch is Alexis.

I have personally seen them once at a club in Clarksville before they got signed, and they are fucking AMAZING live.  Alexis has a very versatile voice that she utilizes in just about every song they have and there is very little difference between the sound of the album and the sound of her face as she's standing on stage three feet away from you and screaming from the depths of her fiery spirit.

I don't know a whole lot about all of these new classifications for metal (metalkore and dethkore lol and whatnot) but I can tell you that they are righteously heavy.  Their style seems to have a bit of a foundation in nu metal, with relatively speedy riffs that have a tendency to taper off into slower off-time beats that are offset by Alexis' powerful vocals.

Remission

SLS Myspace

I would highly recommend checking out the myspace and watching their new video for Black Veil.  I'm going to see this band again in Clarksville tonight so once more I'll update this topic later with pics from the show.

Discuss.

I found the vocals to be very awkward to be honest, maybe I'm just not used to female vocals.

this, specifically the clean parts. I heard this band a few months ago and they really didn't stand out to me as an amazing band. I honestly think they're average at best.

Definitely not "righteously heavy".

Is that the girl doing those lower bellows at the end?  Cause thats pretty good then.  I wonder what they sound like clean/unproduced.

Overall though yeah boring bland etc.

Well, it was worth a try I guess.

conchfeld:  Define "righteously heavy" without using the words "dragon" or "force".

So yeah, no pics due to camera malfunctions.  And yes, conch, to my knowledge she doesn't use backup vocals for any of the bellowing.  I saw them live again last night and they sounded awesome.  I never saw anyone doing backup for her.

that vid you linked to is pretty similar sounding to bands like arch enemy and biohazard. didn't find it interesting enough to check out more though.
