I am really disappointed in nintendo. It sucks that their consoles have such terrible graphics, but developers still try to make the games have that next gen look, so we get blurry textures and way to much aliasing.

yeah i know right not enough bloom. :/

Online multiplayer/ voice chat has already been confirmed.

Ah, I wasn't sure.  I remember early on they said they were thinking about it but that was like, back when they first showed screens of the game.  I haven't read many interviews involving them since then.

Jawesomeness if that's the case, then. ;)

This game reminds me of Perfect Dark 64 for some reason. I prefer FPSs on the PC over their console counterparts.......but since this is exclusive to the Wii, I'll get it if it gets good reviews.

Bumped this topic a bit, seeing that the game released today. I played it and its alright, but honestly if this was on the 360 or PS3 it would be very obscure. It adds nothing new but it has some great controls that are completely customizable and the multiplayer is unlike anything I have seen in an fps, on the wii that is. I will buy it, but only to have a quality FPS game on the wii, and it did get some good review scores to boot(other than Gamepro so far, but all they do is bitch). Also I dig the box art:

Its so generic and cheezy looking that it is awesome.

I haven't read the Gamepro review though, but I heard that they apparently dock points for the game's controls... which is nuts seeing as you can customize just about every aspect of the controls available.  Go figure...

Anyway, I'd have the game today if Gamestop didn't suck, I'll have it tomorrow then. -_-

I'm in the credits for this game, btw. ;D

I really liked it. The campaign could've done with being longer but apparently the disc is completely full and they couldn't fit any more content on it. Good ol' Wii

No kidding, I hear the campaign is 5 hours if you minus the deaths and just breeze through it without looking for unlockables. I think they wanted to focus on multiplayer mainly though, and it is great fun.

Well it's like games radar said "Stuff that sucks about reviewing games #475: You jot down a poignantly hilarious aside, heroically skewering a game for a specific fault… then you check the menu and realize that it’s optional/adjustable and you look like an asshole for not being thorough" which just basically cock slapped Gamepro in the face.

Yeah the multiplayer is brilliant. If you play campaign on the hardest difficulty it should take you a few days though, and tbh to find half the unlockables you're gonna need to use the ASE on every single wall. Good luck with that. :Þ

I like the ASE, but the fact that it requires you to scan every wall reminds me of when you had to constantly throw holy water on the floor in Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest.

@ Sarevok

How'd you get in?  Contributed a control scheme that they chose or something?

Ah, I totally missed the post about him being a QA tester. (bastard :P)
The only other way I knew (aside from him having some direct affiliation with the game) was that HVS held some contest where gamers could devise their own control schemes that could be used as selectable defaults under their names and have their names in the end credits.

Why are the developers hyping the graphics for this game?
"As you can see, we've got reflections on the scope of the rifle. Also shiny textures and bump mapping with particle effects."

Yeah graphics aren't everything, but they sure love to talk about stuff that was in Doom 3. I think it's cool that they've got tons of weapons, and that device that shows hidden objects is pretty awesome. Those screenshots are in desperate need of some anti aliasing though, and there's tons of blurry textures. I do support these guys in trying to make a decent FPS for the Wii, they've got some nice mechanics going on here. I'm just not too interested in an FPS which may lack multiplayer features, and only have a single player campaign that lasts a few hours long on a console with outdated graphics.

doom 3 still looks amazing. it was ahead of its time.

Kinda. On closer examination (aka just by playing it beyond the really dark areas) you can see it's actually incredibly plastic-looking and everything looks a bit crap. It's very, very smooth for sure, but it's not 'amazing' by any definition.

HVS tends to hype up their engine only because they're proving a point to other third party publishers that the Wii is a lot more capable than many are taking it for, not that it's necessarily more capable than other machines out there.

Not that a whole lot has changed but those are also older screenshots and having been through the game (unless I missed something) some of those things don't even happen or you don't see them.  For instance, the giant spider-like alien in the command room sequence I don't recall having seen happen and those reddish looking aliens I don't even remember seeing in the game at all. (despite being part of distributed art assets and screenshots even up until E3 I believe)  Heck, when you find out the entire story behind Prometheus, he's not even the same way as was described in the initial manual leak sometime after GDC this year.

what's the special part of this game

i saw a vid of it on youtube and it looked very ordinary

except wiggle controls

so what's special about it? just seems like another run of the mill fps, which isn't that bad if you really love fpses, I guess

Nothing really, the game is pretty standard fare for an FPS.  There is more to its novelty with Wii owners on the graphics front and the customizable controls/interface has been a highly touted feature since it was introduced (and it makes a difference, I resided my game's bounding box to mimic that of MP3: Corruption... so jawesome) but otherwise there is nothing special per se, about it.  Multiplayer is a lot of fun though and that seems to be the biggest draw of it with most of those I know that own it.  Of my friends I'm the only one that beat its single player, everyone else pretty much got it for multi exclusively.
