How much are they and is getting the 170$ slick silver bullshit worth it?

I also don't know much about the games other than I know I want to get Final Fantasy Tactics, FF Crisis core, and probably the star wars battlefront game. So some help with info on the games that I can get with it and if its worth the money.

Also is that Medievil game any good that came out for it?

My classmates have PSPs and I borrow those sometimes. I could say it might be a better choice than DS if you're looking for a portable console.

You could get almost any game on the psp, the only thing that wil limit you is your memory card size. From the internet you know there are stuff..
Also, it has popular titles there and I know there's also a huge amount of RPGs that were made for it.

battlefront and crisis core are both pretty bad, btw!  also yeah i'd get one.  it's been the only console i've bought that i have not on some level regretted buying.  also you can get 8gb memory sticks on ebay for like $40 so!

Yes! I have a PSP as well, I prefer it over the DS (my DS is broken, though) I recommend getting the Star Ocean games once they come out, too.

Man I love my PSP but I don't really use it unless I am travelling. There is something fantastic about being able to pull out your PSP and just watch a couple of movies on the 6 hour train ride to paris or whatever. Or on a plane, or anywhere you are. At home I don't really use it at all though.

i bought a fucking ds a couple of years ago. i have used it to play one single game, hotel dusk, and that's it. the ds fucking stinks. i mean, i have bought six games for it but all of the rest are godawful. i wish i bought a psp back then cos i might actually use it every now and then but i'm not spending money on a psp now, unless i can sell the ds for the same price i could find a psp at.

seriously i feel like such an idiot for buying that.

Yeah the PSP is much more useful and entertaining than the DS any day, I mean theres already many homebrew programs for the PSP and when custom firmware has been installed on it, there are so many things you can do on the PSP.

The DS has its merits, but I prefer the PSP. I have a slim one, and want to mod it, but I'm not sure how to do it free (since most methods are for the fat PSP).

Just buy the 150$ slim model and find a 8gb memory card somewhere.  Read a tutorial on creating a pandora battery to downgrade your PSP that way you can play homebrew, play ripped games on your memory card, and play PSX games.  There's also a new battery available (the thing is HUUUUGE though and I forgot the name) that literally gives the PSP 40 hours of battery time.  It's pretty beefy and weighs like 2 pounds but 40 hours is ridiculous.

I traded my DS for a PSP and am I ever glad I did! I bought the silver one. It was 200$ but I got it for 100$ thanks to the place I got it: I traded my DS and games for store credit and got it for cheaper. It even came with a game, a movie and a memory card (a cheap one though). I got Crisis Core right away and honestly it's a good game. As for recommendations... well I don't know and I don't really care right now 'cause I'm too busy playing FF:CC.

I'm pretty disappointed with my PSP. Maybe that's because I have a laptop now, and I use that instead, but I don't think there are that many good games for the PSP. Crisis Core is good, and so is Monster Hunter (I don't remember how many hours I've spent on that game), but I'd like to know why all the old Final Fantasy ports/remakes are going to the DS instead of the PSP.

EDIT: oh, by the way, Medievil is the port of the PS1 game. It's fairly decent.
Upon arriving the attending doctor could find no abnormal physical symptoms other than extremely dilated pupils. After spending several hours terrified that his body had been possessed by a demon, that his next door neighbor was a witch, and that his furniture was threatening him, Dr. Hofmann feared he had become completely insane.

I bought one yesterday and got a 2gb card because I couldn't find any bigger ones there. Is that Homebrew shit just psx emulators or are they ripping psp games and playing them? I tried looking through the homebrew topic but it was fucking huge.

Ended up getting the God of War deal because the factory renewed psps costed like 150$ and I was gonna get God of war anyways

I really enjoyed the Armored Core game, the Metal Gear ACID series, and Metal Gear Solid : Portable Ops.
Medievil was good, Death Jr. was awesome, and both Grand Theft Autos lived fully up to their PS2 mother with the sick addition of motorcycles in Liberty City Stories. Really amped up the gameplay there!
Plus, if you've got a PS3 you can dl PSone games and put them on your PSP memory stick! I'm currently playing Wild Arms 1. Both the Worms games were pretty good, though I dislike the damned 3D backgrounds. That killed the games for me, honestly. (Sloooowdown)

Games I anticipate, and you might too: God of War : Chains of Olympus, Beats, Patapon, the upcoming Kingdom Hearts game, --that's all I can think of atm. I know there's a few more I'm looking forward to (though apparently not THAT much).

Homebrew is a catch all for programs, original games (or ports of older games like Cave Story), emulators, and the like.  There's no PSX "emulator" because the PSP emulates the games itself.  You just need to hack the firmware to bypass the security measures.

Ironically enough, it's all legal according to Sony's End User's Agreement but they crack down on it because of the rampant pirates.

I find it strange that I never use my PSP for actually playing PSP games, I play Mario World with a Snes Emulator or Rollcage PSX, my main beefs with it are that I can't get Brave Fencer Musashi or Kirby Superstar (favourite games) to run on it but it doesn't stop me from enjoying it any less.

I usually just play it between breaks at work or on the train but that's about it, it's worth getting for what it can do but I just find myself hardly playing it at all.

Depending if you got a slim it will be a lot easier to mod. As for PSP games..

Patapon - Just buzzy as hell.
Crisis Core - Repetitive but still worth it in the end.
Wipeout games - These are just some great racing games.
Tales of Eternia - If your into this series.
Brave Story A New Traveler - It's an alright game.
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops - Heard it's good.
Syphon Filter games - A lot better then I expected.
Daxter - I love the Jak series and this is no disappointment.
Tekken Dark Resurrection - Just a great fighting game.
Burnout Legends - A fun game.
Killzone Liberation - It's alright.. Short though.

Not many upcoming games but some to look out for would be.. Resistance Retribution, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Parasite Eve The Third Birthday.
