Everybody with the last name Sikma is actually related to me without a doubt.  It's an extremely uncommon name, and my dad has researched it extensively and was able to trace everybody who has it.

I'm probably related by a long shot to Celine Dion since we have the same last name and come from the same region.

Famous, no. Infamous, yes. First, I'm descended from a bastard who became a knight wearing black armor who was vicious and merciless. Then, a bastard from the bloody De La Force family who fled to England during the French Revolution.

My grandfather was in the O.S.S. during World War II and was a member of the team that stormed Mussolini's office while he was being hung in a town square.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

I'm possibly related somehow to some welsh classical composer... and an artist. But not completely sure.

I was in the same class and know the nephew of the singer Shirley Strachan, lead singer in a famous Australian band Skyhooks, the song most people would recognize is "horror movie" so sad, he died in a helicopter crash in 2001 :(

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CANpDwKbBd8&feature=related lol, imaging being related to someone who dressed like that.

Just to add a little more does anyone know people who are related to famous people?

Ugh I misspelt her first name in my original post, but here's wikipedia entry anyways for non-brits who don't know.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayne_Torvill.

I suspect there may be more on my dad's side (hard to find out about my mothers' since her mother was an evaquee during WW2 and only found out about her original family on her last year alive :( ) but I haven't actually heard anything else Apart from a few mega-millionaires and whatnot.

I'm a Newfoundlander so as most People with my last name came from either Ireland or Scotland, and where one of the first few Family names to come here. Somewhere along the line,  Relatives of mine where both with John (Giovanni) Cabbot, and Leif Erikson (Erik the Red)'s Main crews when Newfoundland, and thus North America was discovered!

Also There's Speculation that the Laehy ( A different spelt version of my last name, but of the same family) From Scotland where Descendants of Vllad the Impaler.

So yeah.  My descendants help found North America, TWICE! and I might be related to a mass murdering psychopath from Transylvania.

My great great uncle Nick was a pirate. Kazantzakis mentions him in one of his books, I think.

I am going to blow this topic apart with TERENCE BUTLER. According to my dad he's his second cousin.
I would like to elaborate in case anyone missed this that he is usually known as Geezer.

Does he come to your family reunions? If not, then I think William Wallace outclasses 'Geezer'.
don't mind me, just postin' after a few brewskies

Geezer is a) heavy metal band

But hey, being related to one of the members of Black Sabbath is pretty cool! Try to get his autograph and sell it on eBay for mad ducats  :fogetshifty:
Outclassed. I win  :fogetbackflip:

I do not have any famous relatives as far as I know, and frankly, I don't really care that much.

That's the same with my last name, it is very rare. My last name is German, and it's "Salzler", which is like salt something I believe. I don't like telling my last name, but anyways.

well, i'll post some stuff directly off the geneology study i obtained from my grandma's house.

my great-great-great-.....-grandmother was Pocahontas's husbands' brother's sister. so, Pocahontas's sister-in-law.

on my mother's father's mother's side, my family is directly descended from the Pettus family line, which contains some notable people. John Pettus was knighted for "outstanding loyalty to his country". a few generations later, William Pettus became one of the first people from England to set foot on America as an original colonist of Jamestown.

on my father's mother's side, we come from the Terrells, after whom Terrell, Texas was named. they were mostly Norwegian, with a bit of English.

my mother's mother's family contained the McKittricks from Ireland. also, my great-great-great-great-great grandmother on this side was 100% Native American, and she married an American who came from England.

my mother's father's father's side was made up of infamous thieves, bartenders, and bouncers. they were very rough people. however, many of the people in this family line, including my grandpa, were part of the Freemasons.

and finally, on my fathers' father's side of the family, there were many artists. for hundreds of years, it had been tradition to name your first born son something that started with an "A", and also give them the middle name "John". that tradition ended with my father (Thomas John (whose name is Tom Krusz, haha)), but started again with my oldest brother, Alexander John. all the people had been named things like Arthur, August, Augustus, Alexander, Aaron, Aiden, etc... but my grandpa said, "the minute we saw your father, we knew he wasn't the type of person to follow traditions. we decided not to name him an "A" name at the last minute, right when he was born." my grandpa was right. every first born male had become an artist down to my grandpa. my dad became a computer security guy.

also, my friend Allee's grandparents are the Irwins. her cousin was Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter. also, steve irwin looks exactly like his grandma. disturbingly so. she lives a few blocks away from me.

so yeah thats about all i have to say uhhhhh
semper games.
