I recently got MSN Plus because I was sick of [c=3] in peoples names and whatnot, and all it did was fuck up my messaging program (MSN, obviously.) and as a result I am searching for a new one, alot of my friends use several, and I don't talk to more than one anyways. I was wondering what programs other people use? Do you use email instead? Opinions? Wrong Forum? (probably.)

yeah I like pretty much everything about pidgin. I mean, it's not like there's a ton TO it, it's just instant messaging, but there are no things I DISLIKE so it's the logical choice to me. I never gave a shit about POUNCES or custom emotes or whatever so yeah.

I have to agree with the others on pidgin.
It's great.

Pounces are actually pretty useful sometimes.

I have less than 30 people total in my contact list and 10 of them are from GW

I just stick to Windows Live as it's what I'm most familiar to.

I used to use Trillian but on my Mac I use Adium, which is clean, simple, customizable but not in a gay horrible way where it makes things look nasty or perform badly. Since I am just now returning to the Windows world I don't know what's the best anymore, but I've heard good things about Pidgin here and elsewhere. However since my Windows machine is pretty much just a gaming rig and for a few programs I didn't like the Mac equivalents for (or couldn't find one), I probably won't need an IM program on it.

Pidgin pretty much is adium, as adium was based on pidgin. Another happy pidgin user here.
