It's Metallica's first single off their new album, Death Magnetic. For a new song by Metallica it sounds really good. A lot better than what they've released in the past few years.

Having heard the whole album now I think it's quite good. All Nightmare Long is quite an amazing track as is The Unforgiven III.

Why does the beginning sound like some 80's new wave band to me?
 
But otherwise, this just seems really bleh. Like, ok, we're Metallica and I guess it's time for a new album. Nothing about this really strikes me as fresh or exciting.

Also, I can't say I'm really feeling the video. It just looks like a really forced attempt to comment on the war.

Yeah, the video was hilarious and really bad.  It seemed like a parody of the war, but I knew they were serious.
