Okay so I'm not sure, but I think I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. For the past week or so, my left ring finger has been in pain, not EXTREME but somewhat bad whenever it is pressed down on, i.e. typing etc. (to the point where whatever I pressed with it is now being pressed with my middle finger).

Also, my thumb on my right hand has been hurting about the same time length, but it has pretty much gone away (I don't feel anything right now anyway).

But I was looking up symptoms and all that, and I actually stumbled across a test for Carpal Tunnel, the Tinel test? I looked it up and numerous websites talk about it. So I figured it might be worth a shot. It involves tapping the wrist of the pained hand on the median nerve. The test is positive for Carpal Tunnel (or at least it says it is everywhere) if your hand/finger/etc. gets an electric-like shock every time you tap it.

I tested my left hand, sure enough a little jolt through my hand and my left ring finger (the one in pain when pressed). I tested my right hand, no electric-like jolt.

I do a relatively big amount of typing and Guitar Hero and all sorts of things, so I'm actually assuming (and afraid) that I have it, because I want to go into Computer Engineering and I don't want to have hands that can't type/do shit. I haven't gotten it checked out by a doctor because I just tested myself about 20 minutes ago and about 2 minutes ago.

So does anyone have any suggestions, thoughts, ideas, other than just "go see a doctor"? Has/does anyone here have it or have had it? Thanks.

yea i got an suggestion QUIT YA WHINING. Carpal tunnel is temporary unless you continue to do the activity that caused it (furious constant masturbation). Don't keep playing guitar hero in 10 hour stints or whatever or you might do yourself some permanent nerve damage or something. See a doctor if it's already rly bad

you can take some ibuprofen to decrease the inflammation. take ONLY as directed on package.

I carpal tunnel maybe from playing too much rez back in the day, but since I had lyme disease my bones there hardened together or something? idk I forget what the rheumatoid arthritis lady said but now I can't bend that wrist all the way back.

could be something else, if it keeps up see a doctor

Well my dad said Carpal Tunnel is more numbness than pain so idk, I do see numbness AND pain on websites where it talks about it.

vitamin b6 and b12. i think 600 mg of b6 and 1000 of b12 is what most docs say, but you can ask a pharmacist. it helps carpal tunnel a lot.

My mom just wears braces on her hands and wrists while sleeping a few nights a week.  She says it helps her immensely.

Yeah man you don't want to wreck your hands!  Lay off of video games and typing etc for awhile until the symptoms go away.  Repetitive stress injuries aren't usually permenant as far as I know unless they cause like crippling pain.

Stop masturbating typing so much or inbetween sessions of INTENSE typing stretch your hands, arms and wrists.

Yeah I think stretching your hands properly before doing really repetitive strenuous hand activities helps a lot.  Thats what they say on all the HOW DO I SHRED HELP websites.

what the shit causes this?
I spend all day at the computer typing and such  (perhaps not the traditional way), and some more playing video games too, and my hands/wrists etc are fantastic!
