Okay so I'm not sure, but I think I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. For the past week or so, my left ring finger has been in pain, not EXTREME but somewhat bad whenever it is pressed down on, i.e. typing etc. (to the point where whatever I pressed with it is now being pressed with my middle finger).
Also, my thumb on my right hand has been hurting about the same time length, but it has pretty much gone away (I don't feel anything right now anyway).
But I was looking up symptoms and all that, and I actually stumbled across a test for Carpal Tunnel, the Tinel test? I looked it up and numerous websites talk about it. So I figured it might be worth a shot. It involves tapping the wrist of the pained hand on the median nerve. The test is positive for Carpal Tunnel (or at least it says it is everywhere) if your hand/finger/etc. gets an electric-like shock every time you tap it.
I tested my left hand, sure enough a little jolt through my hand and my left ring finger (the one in pain when pressed). I tested my right hand, no electric-like jolt.
I do a relatively big amount of typing and Guitar Hero and all sorts of things, so I'm actually assuming (and afraid) that I have it, because I want to go into Computer Engineering and I don't want to have hands that can't type/do shit. I haven't gotten it checked out by a doctor because I just tested myself about 20 minutes ago and about 2 minutes ago.
So does anyone have any suggestions, thoughts, ideas, other than just "go see a doctor"? Has/does anyone here have it or have had it? Thanks.
