post hip-hop, where is it,

shouldn't it have arrived in full years ago

is mia post hip-hop? that would be cool. isn't anyone creative enough anymore
you know, I'm not normally one to stop liking something once it gets popular but I really can't listen to paper planes anymore without hearing dumb drunk bitches in the back of my head yelling "its the pineapple express song yeah!" *throws a finger-pistol up with the gunshot samples*

Again its a matter of opinion.. I listen to a lot of underground hip hop, and Technique is personally my favourite out of all of the current underground artists.

The 4th Branch and The Point of No Return are two tracks that you guys need to listen to.. Dance with the Devil is alright but a little lengthy! Then they got Jedi Mind Tricks playing at the end of that as well with another track engraved into it..

correction the only immortal technique track to listen to is the sound of his cd being thrown out the fucking window and trampled by a horse.

IM ANGRY AND POLITICAL BUT I THROW KIDS WHO BOOTLEG MY SHOWS OUT OF MY CONCERTS AND AM THE LEAST SOCIALIST GUY AROUND, BUY MY ALBUMS ESPOUSING THE DANGERS OF CAPITALISM.

aw that sucks. I'm pretty tired of THE STATE OF HIPHOP.
so wait don't tell me you are annoyed by YALL SOME FAKE NIGGAS etc shit (i am too) but not mainstream stuff.  like it is all pretty repetitive lyrically and i wish they'd find a new schtick too but that wouldn't stop me from listening to it (that song is p fly actually i need to get the album if it is all that good!  also beauty and the beat is a great title) if i was just into the actual sound/production/mc and not the lyrics themselves.

also what is he if he is anti-capitalist but not socialist

he is supposedly socialist but beat up some kids bootlegging one of his shows and gets furious if you wear anything other than IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE APPROVED MERCH and tried to steal some kid's camera at the same show.

not exactly for the people...

also neither the mainstream nor the underground sticks to the same shit constantly. obviously the underground's a little more fluid in that regard, but it's getting pretty tired about how every mc is bringing the REAL hiphop back.

that's what I mean pidge, why do people have to talk about bringin hip-hop back on some boring album instead of moving on and doing something different like talk about not being materialist and misogynist. man I don't even know, this is a terrible post, I'm just sick of all of it and I don't want to bother listening anymore.

time machine has zero songs like that. there's a song about POOR HOMELESS PEOPLE but it comes off as genuine. panacea does the same thing song about being black in america but hitting on themes I haven't heard expressed in music.

educate yourself.........

it's hard in some cases to write that shit because it comes off as a little nerdy but it's preferable a lot of the time to other shit.

okay update: I listened to Time Machine's A Million and One Things to Do and instantly fell in love.  Reminds me of the early 90s rap, good stuff and that Edan stuff sounds great as well.

thanks guys i have this huge list i now have to sort through this shall keep me busy for a while.

and uh, i was going to legitimately discuss the downfall and glamorization of modern hip-hop but there's already a better topic for discussing such things so....

time machine is the best group I've seen almost exclusively discussed on gw.

the only other time I saw someone talk about them was on SA when I mentioned them in a thread and some guy said "LOL HATED THEM BUT I LOVEEEEED GYM CLASS HEROES".

I can't get into real rap

I think its the act of rapping in itself, because I can get into Gnarls Barkley gorillaz and the Flobots but I don't like alot of straight up hard beats and angry rapping

I like some massive attack and Sage, EL-P seemed pretty good so I DLed it but haven't really sat down and listened to them
But I liked immortal technique and Edan sounded ok

also what is some good WU Tang and does Rza do good solo stuff

oh my bad

MY BAD

all of Wu has solo shit. If I was gonna recommend one I'd say Inspectah Decks first album. I forgot the name though, Uncontrolled substance I think. Birth of A Prince is the only RZA solo I listened to really, that has some sick tracks on it. DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUUUUUUUUN

IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE IT'S ALREADY 1997. TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK.
