After... "obtaining" a copy and getting to the civlization phase, it's worn a bit thin, but at least give credit for the creature editor.

All editors, really. They did a great job with them.. You can make some really creative creatures, buildings, and vehicles.

Superman 64 was horribly made. This is very well made, it just lacks any sort of complexity or challenge. The creature creator was the only good feature of the game, and anything done outside the editor feels like it's just a gimmicky minigame to include your custom creations. For a creature designer, it's very easy to use, albeit limited. But as a game, that they assume people will consider this "fun" is insulting at the very least.

Man that is an IDEA there, make it more management and less single-player MMO.  It would be awesome to see the creatures interbreeding and have different ways to affect how they come out as far as worldbuilding goes.  Fuck, I used to love the Dogz and Catz games because I loved breeding the animals and seeing the different aspects the children got from the parents (especially when you downloaded breeds and got like HALF MOOSE HALF PIG BABIES), doing that with Spore would be insane possibilities.

This game is pretty OKAY if you weren't hyped up for it I think. Not OMEGA SUPER AWESOME GREAT d^_____^b, not SUPER DRAT TERRIBLE, just PRETTY HORRIBLY average. Would I rec anyone to buy it? If they like this type of thing sure. It is not a collosally bad game and the people going DONT SPEND MONEY ON IT OMG are silly tbh. If you're joking (I have!) that's good. If not, well, find better reasons to not spend money. I didn't spend money on it (PIRATING HEH) because it is ridden with DRM, and I don't support products that use DRM. All DRM winds up doing is harming the real consumers, since pirates wind up getting around it in 5 seconds, like they did with Spore (hell, before it came out it was cracked). But if you don't care about DRM or such, and vaguely like this type of thing, I think you should buy it if you're sure, but if not wait for a bit of a price drop.

I wouldn't even recommend it if they "like this kind of thing" because even people who love the premise will get bored of it when they find out how repetitive the game is. I can't say I know anyone who looks for shallow, simplistic games that are just unimaginative and amateurish attempts to incorporate other games's playstyles, anyways. Actually, I wouldn't recommend it at all. This game isn't bad by opinion, it's bad by fact. I say not to waste the money because it's not worth paying money to become bored. 

If by some horrible luck, you are able to find someone who you would actually recommend this to, there are a thousand other games that would be more enticing to them, that you should mention in it's place.
