thats a funny thing to say because there's basically nothing spooky and not even a whole lot of "aborted guitar solos", most of their songs are like 5-6 minutes or less, and whichever one of them is the vocalist rarely uses any filters.  he's got kind of a ridiculous voice but i think it is good ridiculous more than it is bad ridiculous.  the lyrics are nonsense, but honestly, i never paid enough attention to them past being inscrutable to really form a good opinion of whether or not they are pretentious.  it's just not a very apt description.

what's more, who gives a fuck about interviews?  tons of talented people are assholes.  it's disappointing, but i don't think it invalidates all of their work.  isaac brock is the biggest douchebag in interviews.  like, really, he sounds like fred durst.  does this mean all modest mouse albums are full of shit?  travis morrison is also a pretty big shithead in interviews, does this make dismemberment plan an awful band?  i don't think you can gauge the quality of someone's music by how full of themselves you think they are being in an interview.

i dunno if this is just a funny link or if it's supposed to support what you're saying, but i'm inclined to say SO WHAT, DAWG.  like, they are a couple of recovering (???) junkies; how do you expect them to act?  what this really does prove is that his voice is heavily doctored in the studio and he cannot even hold the notes he has written for himself in a live setting, but i don't even really give much of a shit about that.  i can see how others would, though.  but idk some of the best bands act completely ridiculous onstage.  i don't think it's an indication of their character beyond the fact that they probably get a rush out of performing in front of thousands of people and like to do crazy shit.  heh what kind of asshole jumps around and acts ridiculous onstage....
