Yea I love Insurgency. Not a lot more to say about it that hasn't already been said but because you die fairly easy it requires a lot of team work. Also there are big differences between the teams and how they are actually played and it's evident in the map design, which is pretty nice. It can be frustrating though and it is built to be very realistic so shit like camping is part of the game more so than any other.

Also Zombie Master is a fun game. Oh and I played AOC awhile ago and I can't imagine much has changed to make it better since the problem with it seemed pretty fundamental.

ok so I played DIPRIP for an hour and well... It kinda blows imho.

Whats good:

- The levels are gorgeus and the car models are really good
- It's really satisfying landing a mortar on someone
- It's different

What's bad:

- It's kinda... boring... where's the variety in gameplay?
- Not that many weapons
- Not that many cars either (more on its way though??)
- I didn't notice any difference in the cars besides the models, I'm guessing armor and speed?

To answer your boring section:
-idk its hella fun on a max server for me (but im a vehicle combat fan, i've played em all.)
-true, but it's easier to balance these and then add more afterwards.
-yeah, especially now.
-everything is different. armor, speed, turbo amount, turbo speed, acceleration, weapon power, max weapon amounts per weapon, damage when it rams someone, etc.

insurgency is beautiful (if you like that sort of thing??? I love a Arab) and the map design is pretty great. tbh I didn't even think of 'camping' when I used to play it, I don't think it's a problem so much as the way of the game. both sides do it and who's camping when changes depending on the tide of the battle. I guess it's more realistic, and it's not really a bother. as you play you get to know where people camp or snipe from, and it's really the people who THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX and figure out new shit that surprises you and gets you killed. in all I loved it!!

but I only have a notebook pc now so I can't play insurgency or the ship

You know, I have Hl2 DM as PRE-LOAD COMPLETE in my steam games but I can neither install, play or purchase it so I'm kinda puzzled as to what I'm supposed to do here. The only viable option in the game menu is PURCHASE GAM but it just gives an error when I try to do that.

if you have an ati or nvidia card you can take an offer on their website and itll let you download it. (you might have to delete all the data if it pre-loaded it tho)

I do have an ATI card BUT:

ERROR ERROR ERROR steam://hardwarepromo/305 not found

I don't know what exactly is the problem but the app that handles this offer is not there or is not working so I dunno, I'll try and google some sense to it. Maybe the offer has expired?

I wanna know what the problem with the ATI offer is first before I start taking any gifts, it might be the fact that I moved my steam from one harddrive to another and some of the app paths stopped working or something along those lines OR the offer has just simply EXPIRED because it does say FOR A LIMITED TIME and iirc this offer started around January 2008?

But thanks anyway.

Well, regarding moving games, i think Steam has an option called backup games, and it should be more stable than copy paste.

Btw I managed to get this resolved, it was indeed because I cut-pasted my steam folder from one HD to another that some of the registry data did not update and thus the apps didn't work. I downloaded the Steam installer and ran a repair install and it seems to have fixed it, already booked my own copy of Hl2 Dm from the ATI offer.

Steam sucks that's why I wanna play a zombie mod game where you don't need steam, I was thinking of making a half life zombie mod but no expertise in the half life modding area...

from like less than a weeks experience on source modding, it's not anything overly complex but programming abilities help A LOT. But even if you would make a HL mod it would still run on Steam? Or do you mean HL1?

Ah nevermind, I just have a grudge against Steam because they won't let you play half life 2 offline... So less than a week? That sounds wonderful, what exactly would I need? tools and stuff?

Well for a basic mod you can download some custom models and use the default ones so you don't need a modeling program. If you want your own models Valve recommends XSI mod tool.

Theres a whole bunch of tools, including Hammer level editor in the SDK Tools package, which you need to DL via Steam. Iirc you also need SDK Base and maybe some other SDK's too. These are vital and a mod cannot be made without these.

Then to modify gameplay you need MS Visual Studio or something similar (thats what I have and it's pretty good). If you aren't too good at programming you can check some tutorials on how to change stuff like weapon skins and bullet speed and shit like that. This is also pretty well documented in the valve developer wiki or whatever the fuck its called.

Besides those I can't think of anything else but there's prolly more. It's not hard to make a simple mod, but its time consuming and offcourse it goes without saying that the more ambitious a mod is the longer it takes to make. +Mods are usually a team project, it can be pretty overwhelming if you are just by yourself.

I've tried to download the SDK from steam but I can't find the darn thing on steam anywhere...
EDIT: I've always wanted to make a Land of The Dead The Road to Fiddlers Green mod but I never knew how...I just need to learn how to make my own 3d models first.

should be in the tools page. I have SDK, SDK BASE, and SDK BASE ORANGE BOX so those should be sufficient. I'm not entirely sure if sdk base and sdk orange box are required tho.
