So I am upgrading my computer with pretty much everything, but the hard drive, case, and power supply. Till then I have to use a stand by computer that I have. There is just one major problem with it, none of the background image show up.

Even right now the forum background is not on, I just see a white backdrop. This just isn't for web pages, but also shows up in programs so I know its not and internet problem. Anyway I looked around and I can't find anyway to turn backgrounds back on. I don't think this is a firewall issue since I installed a better firewall on it. I tried looking to see if it was a video card problem, but for the life of me I can't find any new drivers for it. Anyway does anyone know anything that can help me?

Specs:
Dell Dimension DIM2400
WinXP home SP3
Intel Celeron CPU 2.40
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller(no clue what the hell this is, I guess its the name for the current video card driver. Never seen a video card with such a fucked up name.)

Have you been to the Dell website and entered your service tag number and downloaded all the latest stuff there?

This is just echoing what Jeff said, but in my experience with Dells (which is limited to friends who had them that I've had to fix), it's absolutely VITAL you get the drivers up on their site.  Things aren't going to try to work properly without them, and they shouldn't be hard to find on the site.

Sounds like that's not just one intel video chipset, but several different ones, covered by the same driver assumably.

Went to there site and it looks like I already had all the drivers they have posted, but I reinstalled some of them anyway. No, dice it seems. I'm just wondering if this is some kind of setting in WinXP, but I can't find any place to turn it off.

If it was just your windows desktop background, I would say adware, but you say it does it to websites too? What browsers do you use? and which does it do it on?

Actually the desktop is fine. I use firefox 3 and I don't use a ton of programs on this little thing, but I see on some of the windows programs it shows up (or doesn't show would be a better term). Like the H&S center doesn't have a background.
