Multiwinia, the multiplayer sequel to Darwinia by Introversion.
They also made Defcon.

So I downloaded the demo a few days ago and it was pretty fun. But from the demo alone it's pretty hard to tell if the full game is really good or just average. The things that really blur my judgement is that my computer specs are really shitty and if there's more than 2 armies the fps drops a lot, and also the demo is pretty vague in telling what more the full game has, aside from different gamemodes.

Iirc Marcus has a huge boner for Darwinia so maybe you've already gotten this game????!?!? Is it good!?!??!?

Also discuss the game I guess.

I thought the graphics could have been a bit more SHARPER because the stick-dudes look blurry and I also thought it looked kinda dumb how the lasers would always move that certain distance, never seeming to hit anything. A bit more motion/animation would've been nice too. It's a really easy game to get into, sort of a casual RTS in that you don't have to build anything or worry about resources. It's a bit too easy against computers on all the difficulty settings but the game is meant to be played on the internets anyway.

I wonder though if anyone has even HEARD of either Darwinia or Multiwinia because they really aren't mainstream games.

and yes i did love darwinia and defcon and uplink these guys are favorite small time developers.

It has a singleplayer against AI (I think it's from 1 to 4 enemy tribes) but I don't know if it's similar to darwinia. The singleplayer in multiwinia is basically playing the 6 gamemodes against computers in a wide variety of maps. There is no campaign or such just skirmish games. At least the demo indicates this.
