Anyone else playing this game?  I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it because it's atrocious.  Somehow a 3 year development schedule ended up in one of the buggiest games I've seen this year (although The Force Unleashed is running close second).  It's kind of difficult to screw up an idea that revolves around blowing everything up but Pandemic was successful in their fuckups.  Check out some of these great videos:

so yeah i heard the co-op is really the only redeeming factor about this game.

I want to play this game now, if only for the hilarious death screams.

I saw this in HIGH DEFINITION on gametrailers during the whole E3 hypefest and I saw through it right away. It's one of those games that is really bigged up by the publisher but FOR SOME REASON no-one is talking about it.

I think the reason for that is that the gaming-consumer are becoming increasingly desensitized to overblown marketing, especially in the case of EA games. Literally every game they release seems to lack polish yet they advertise it as if it is gods gift. I think if you take a publisher such as Valve you get games which are very well made and innovative  (they even add commentary about the development process to the game for free) and the advertising is limited to their own services (and magazines).

Their success is pretty much word of mouth which can only be achieved by a quality product - They KNOW it's a quality product and therefore they do not need the overblown advertising which is why the inner skeptic comes out when you see another MERCENARIES 2.

the great thing about the e3 demo video is that there are a bunch of dumb bugs in it as well (this guy flies around in a helicopter and blows up a tower which promptly vanishes in thin air) and the guy doing the preview wants to say something but the dude playing the game starts spouting off a list of graphics related buzzwords and how the game has real minute attention to detail and stuff.

yeah I gave it a shot and it's pretty damn mediocre. I read a couple of reviews that touted it as a GREAT SANDBOX ROMP WITH SOME FLAWS, and while it's far from godawful, it really isn't particularly fun. Everything about it seems shallow. The gunplay is ridiculously simplistic. Come on, it came out like 2 years after GoW, but has no real cover system or enemy AI? Even GTA4 has a cover system. The cutscenes and story are really only good in a campy/cheesey sort of way, but in their defense, they ARE sort of OK in a "so bad it's good" manner.

But basically, beyond the whole OPEN ENDED + BLOW SHIT UP dynamic (if you want to call it that) there's really no redeeming aspect to the game. I was getting pretty bored before I had even finished capturing my HQ.

buggy it may be, its not THAT bad. What I fucking hate is the retarded ai and repeated lines marcus featured above. Theres more though:

it's also really sad that the first mercenaries had the enemies speak in their native tongue but this game lacks that for whatever reason.  i simply refuse to believe pandemic lacked the funds to hire a bunch of south american voice actors.

Wow, I didn't realise this was out and I was gonna go fork out $79 AU for it (which is cheap for a new release game down in Aus) but after reading this thread, perhaps I'll rent it first.

I played this at my friends house and I think the song for the commercial is the best thing this game has to offer. It's not that it's a bad game, it's just kind of boring and repetetive.

i spent 2 days getting this game and I got bored of it pretty damn quick

at least i got cod4 along with it, and that single player was so amazing i almost cried like i cried in pokemon the movie

this game is awful and completely uninteresting. Why do people keep buying this shit? You're only encouraging them.
