I've been meaning to make a topic about this band for a while now. Bomb The Music Industry! is the brain-child of Arrogant Sons Of Bitches frontman, Jeff Rosenstock (founder, owner of Quote Unquote Records).

They are a Punk/Ska group, and are absolutely incredible. Their newest album, Get Warmer, is what really sold it for me. It was his/their first album with an actual studio-ish recording, including an actual drummer. It's one of the 'funnest' albums I have ever heard. All of BtMI!'s material is available for download at Quote Unquote Records, and comes highly recommended. All of their albums are great, but Get Warmer is probably the easiest to latch on to.

So, give them a listen. Download Get Warmer. Tell me what you think of them. I think their appeal goes far beyond the Ska/Punk scene.

I downloaded the exact same album you listened to(Get Warmer) because DragonSlayer recommended it to me like a year ago. I like that album a lot too. Some of the tunes are kinda catchy.

one of the most overrated "underground" bands I've ever had the misfortune of listening to. I want my hour back, rosenstock.

props on liking tom waits, immediately negated by the worst cover of Anywhere I Lay My Head and that includes Johansson's cover.

i actually remember steel saying he likes bomb the music industry at some point but opinions change...

anyway, i'm not too big on ska but btmi are one of the better ska groups i have listened to, and their music is free so that's cool. i have to admit i don't like them as much as i did when i first heard them but i still occasionally listen to them. their biggest problem is that they only really have a very few standout tracks while most songs don't have much going on.

but i'd recommend them to anyone who even remotely likes ska or ska/punk or whatever it's called.

I've got friends who love them, but i cant really be bothered with them.
As a general rule, bands that utilise exclamation marks tend to be really irritating. It's a generalisation refering to the punx world more than anything.

I have a real vendetta against self congratulating obvious D.I.Y bands. As a thing i love DIY, but there's a certain type of mentality that latches onto it, especially in the kind of music scene BTMI comes from.

A slightly irrelevent point, but none the less.

My cousin is in a ska band here is an excerpt from their song called Dinner:
"Franks and beans
They're good for the heart
The more you eat
the more you *trumpet and sax blow*

Excerpt from their song called Breakfast:
"Wake up in the morning need something to eat
way to early for that lunch meat
bacon and eggs are in my head
I wish I could eat breakfast in bed!"

Also they are named Skapone.

"Self Congradulating" whatever, this is awesome:

They are known for their DIY punk ethic, embodied in such actions such as distributing five albums worth of material for free on their website, and offering free stencils and paint for fans to create their own T-shirts. They also offer their fans a chance to perform on stage if they learn a song and bring their instrument to the show.
