hmmm the party banter is nice.  the character's will comment on their surroundings and opinions.  it's contextual and unique for each character so unlike other party banter games (like Wizardry 8 and Baldur's Gate) it's not a general pool of terms they'll use for every situation.

How's the translation? I really loved KOTOR back in the day (I know its star wars but it's still a D&Dish PC RPG) and I liked played a fair bit of Neverwinter Nights 2. I never got into The Witcher because the original English translation (the pre-Enhanced Edition) was TERRIBLE. It's usually my biggest BEEF with european games, they get really subpar English editions, likely because they have to release in like five languages and budgeting for solid voicework and dialogue for every single language is just beyond the studios and publishers. I GET it, but it's still disappointing.

I never played much Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, even when they were relatively new. I just never got into the storyline much, Icewind Dale especially felt like a CHORE half the time. I need a little CINEMATIC FLAIR I guess to enjoy these sorts of games. I've sort of figured the story will be some HIGH FANTASY nonense about DARK MAGICKS and ELDER GODS and what have you, but there's still something fun about putting together a party of adventurers with different skills and trekking through tombs and stuff, if the audio/visual is there to compliment it and the writing is decent.

only the first line of dialog is actually spoken (and cutscenes are fully voiced) and i've counted maybe 3 misspellings so far.  nothing wrong the grammar.

This kind of sucks so far, although I'm pleased you can get diseased from mundane things. Somewhere along the way I got gangrene. I'm not even sure how.

Some of the detail in the game is pretty surprising, but there's basic annoyances that ruin it for me, like just how CLUNKY simply moving your party around and controlling the camera feels. I wish there was some sort of AUTO FOLLOW option so I didn't have to group everyone back up after I fiddle with someone's equipment. The writing and translation aren't as bad as some European games but it's not GR8 either.

But man its pretty complex, like there's so many stats and talents and item creation and all this shit you can do with each character, it's a little overwhelming at first. I was pretty impressed with how many classes and shit there were at creation, I was torn between a dwarf prospector and one of those arab elementalists. I actually chose a female rogue or pirate or whatever.... seducin my way to better rewards.

It's really not so bad though, especially for a $30 PC RPG. I can see there being a ton of GAMEPLAY in there, if you don't mind the EXTREMELY TRADITIONAL ye olde fantasy setting.

Yeah, I'm also playing a rogue although I think this might have been a pretty bad idea. I'm terrible at combat and I've only used any social skill like twice (I seduced an old lady to give me a dog bone). I was kind of disappointed because it has about three times less statistics than Realms of Arkania. How am I supposed to know if I'm good at training animals if I don't have an animal training skill??

Fuuckk. I tried this game, and it is fucking brutally hard. Or spellcasters suck balls.
Each and every time a fucking WILD BOAR killed me. I shot it with lightning, it didn't do anything, and seemed to regenerate it's Hp almost instantly.
The next time I took a NPC with me, and shot it with fireballs! It still killed both characters!
The third time, I tried to sneak up on it, and shot it with thunder and fireballs, and I barely managed to kill it... Only be be assaulted by another fucking Wild Boar that finished us both off.

Well, the third time it didn't "kill" us both... It just almost killed us, which is the same as dying anyway (seriously, I had 37 Hp, but died when it dropped below 10!).

Anyone got any tips for someone who wants to play as a spellcaster, other than don't?

Also, the spellcasting in the game can be annoying. It takes a long time to cast spells (upwards of 5+ seconds), and there is very little indication of how far a spell is cast other than your character dancing around. And spells can be easily (and accidentally) stopped because sometimes the animation for them is hardly noticable so you don't even realise you are casting a spell!

I'm playing an elementalist.  just boost your spells, summon creatures, and use ranged weapons while the tanks soak up damage from the front

here's me killing some bandits.  level 1 so yeah i just think you suck

also pickpocket everyone.  nothing happens if you fail and most people usually carry some random alchemy item or 1 ducat.

I killed those bandits, and a wolf, lots of wolf rats and a FUCKING BEAR. But those fucking Wild Boars are insane, they regenerate Hp rapidly (everytime my tank hit one, the damage was instantly healed), evade most attacks and seem to kill you when you are half dead, which they can do in 1-2 hits!

I eventually just learned to walk around them. But the class I picked turn out to be pretty boring :[

Also... :[ The developers of the game could have added... An easier way of displaying information about everything. I mean, just how good is a 1D+2 Cleaver? (I am assuming it is 1 six sided die +2?).

But other than being kind of hard to understand and awkward to control more than 1 character, it has been a fairly good game so far!
