What's the story?
Created as a series reboot of the franchise, Casshern Sins tells the story of a world where robots subjugated humanity after becoming self-aware. Their leader, Braiking Boss, rules over the world with an iron fist. One day, a mysterious girl named Luna is summoned by the people for salvation of mankind. Fearing that she can be a potential threat, Braiking sends three of his most powerful cyborg warriors to dispose of Luna: Casshern, Dio and Reda. Casshern, the strongest warrior, manages to track down and kill Luna. This triggers a cataclysmic event which brings about the end of the world. Hundreds of years later, the world's atmosphere now filled with poison, humanity is in danger of extinction, from most of the remaining population's inability to reproduce, and the threat of the robots.

Robots do not fare well either, as they constantly replace their body parts, fearing death as much as humans do: the corrosion of their bodies from rust, due to the poisonous environment. In this wretched time and place, Casshern, after disappearing since his murder of Luna, returns with no memory of who he is. As he embarks on a journey to find out the truth about himself, he defends the humans against the robots.

Who the heck are we going to see in this action anime #4550?
Casshern (キャシャーン, Kyashaan)
Voiced by: Tohru Furuya

The protagonist of the series. In this latest incarnation, he is originally a subordinate of Braiking Boss, the strongest warrior in his robot army. With his advanced cybernetic body and quick reflexes, he has the ability to destroy any opponent he comes across, and is able to regenerate himself from any injuries. Casshern was sent by Braiking to kill Luna per his orders. When he manages to kill her, a catalcysmic event happened that sent him into a deep sleep. When he wakes up hundreds of years later, he finds that the world is now a desert wasteland, and has no prior memory of who he is before his coma. He agonizes over himself upon learning that he was the one who caused the destruction of the world into a dark age. Now fighting on the side of good, he defends the humans against the robots, as well as elude the many people who want him dead, due to his previous status as humanity's enemy.

Lyuze (リューズ, Ryuze)
Voiced by: Nami Miyahara

A female robot bounty hunter, she hunts for the recently awakened Casshern, as she blames him for causing the world destruction when he kills Luna.

Ringo (リンゴ, Ringo)
Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi

A robot girl who maintains her innocence despite living after the world destruction, who befriends Casshern. Although witnessing Casshern mercilessly killing a robot in order to save her, she gradually opens up her heart to him. Ohji handles her maintenance.

Ohji (オージ, Ohji)
Voiced by: Yūichi Nagashima

A human technician who spends his time fixing robots, he is Ringo's guardian and takes care of her. However, Ohji has a constant dislike for Casshern, and seems to know something about him in the past.

Luna (ルナ, Luna)
Voiced by: Akiko Yajima

A mysterious girl who was summoned by the people for help, Luna was known as "the sun which is named the moon", and has untold powers. Braiking ordered his henchmen to dispose of her as she was a potential threat. Casshern kills her at the beginning of the anime, and her death sparks the slow annhilation of the world. Seemingly immortal, she appears once again in the dark ages.

Braiking Boss (ブライキング・ボス, Buraikingu・Bosu)
Voiced by: Kenji Utsumi

Braiking Boss is the leader who commands his robot army. Under his iron-clad rule, Braiking has enslaved humanity for a long time, until Luna is summoned to stop him. After the world destruction, he changes his name and is now wandering in the wilderness. He is responsible for the ruin of the world, as he ordered the murder of Luna.

My blurb?
This is actually a reboot of its original 1973 version of Shinzo Ningen Kyasshan (Neo-Human Casshern, or just called as Casshern), and even its 2004 cinema adaptation, but with a drastic twist! They turned Casshern like a somewhat dynamic anti-hero.

This anime's graphics, well it's in the level of Code Geass & MegaMan Zero, even its battle scenes. Sound, well... it suited for the setting which sounded extremely dystopic and imperfect.

That's no Rubber Suit Gundam! It's just Casshern went overdrive or something, Aztec! The mechs in the Casshern movie are kinda like Astroboy-ish designs, and I believe they're like gear & steam powered. I even had the soundtrack of the Casshern Movie.

Terminator meets MegaMan X anyone? Teeheehee!

One weird nitpick on Casshern original, Casshern movie, and Casshern Sins is they nearly kept the character names and switched roles or something. Find out by yourselves though! ^_6

This was fuck awesome.
Casshern rocks, and a dark re-boot is great. Sort of what they did with Polymar.

Also the live action SUCKED BALLS.

Okay well it appears I was wrong and it was a lot better than I expected. It reminded me a lot of SoulTaker, which (despite the really horrible title) is one of my favorite artistic animes.

At first I thought the voice acting was terrible and then I realized that it has to be intended that way as some of the voice actors in the anime have done several other ones that I have seen where they have performed considerably better -- the main VA did Toppi in World Destruction. So, what I can assume is that like the animation of the characters, the dialogue and speech is ridiculously exaggerated, which so far is the worst part of the show. I brought up SoulTaker because it did this as well, however that show turned out to use it exceptionally well; whether Casshern Sins will follow suit remains to be seen.

The animation was excellent (if extremely exaggerated, as I said earlier) but the action scenes were on and off. The first couple minutes were pretty awesome but the last fight scene was pretty bad. And the backgrounds were some of the best I have ever seen and completely fit with the amazing atmosphere they are trying to create.

That said I am still kind of skeptical that they will pull this off well, but I will continue watching, if nothing else for the art.

edit your first post and put any websites found wher you can watch it. That's usually what people look for the most. The style looks like an Adult anime, but it looks like the original Cassheren tv show with some mixtures of astro boy and speed racer. But the 1st 2 eps are amazing. the animation is great.

Too bad the Casshern movie is shit.. Well, I'm not that shallow, but like most Japanese movies I found it draws things out wayyyy too much or comes across with beyond ridiculous plot devices.

The description for this anime does sound kind of cool though, I'll look into it.
