Set 500 years after the original game, Fable 2 offers even more choices and features, while building on the core gameplay theme of Fable where every choice continually defines who you become, allowing you to truly live the life you choose. Fable II expands upon the scope and depth of the original by adding incredible new features and creating a wider, more complex kingdom of limitless choices and consequences. Players will have the option to play as a man or woman, get married, have children, and live a life of their own design -- all leading to different destinies.

Genre: Action RPG

Release Date: October 21st 2008

General Features:

  • A land far, far away. Gamers will revisit the newly expanded world of Albion more than 500 years after the events of the original “Fable,” where they are free to explore the landscape and openly roam the countryside. For the right price, every house, hut, dungeon and castle is for sale. Players can witness how the world grows and changes in response to their decisions in incredible and unique ways as they rediscover Albion as if for the first time.
  • Fight with ease. “Fable II” pioneers a new combat system designed to allow players to truly master hand weapons such as swords and maces, ranged combat weapons such as crossbows and guns, and an entirely new magic system. These three disciplines, while very accessible, are also amazingly deep, and allow players to mix combat styles and become everything from master swordsman to skilled ranger to evil magic wielder, each using a different single button on the Xbox 360 Controller.
  • A hero’s best friend. This groundbreaking addition to the game is integral to the theme of unconditional love in “Fable II.” A player’s canine companion will act as friend, compass and protector. Players must merely feed their pooch and he will love unconditionally, creating a bond that sets up emotion-filled journeys throughout this magical world.
  • Experience the world together. For the first time in the “Fable” series, gamers can experience the expansive and immersive world of “Fable II” with friends, either on the same couch or over Xbox LIVE together in co-operative mode.2 “Fable II” embodies the new Xbox experience and will extend the Xbox LIVE service further with the introduction of orbs. Orbs allow for seamless LIVE co-op play and interaction with other “Fable II” players.

(I know, sounds like some fucking advertisement but I just copied this shit from IGN)

My Thoughts so far:

Well I got my collectors edition today and took the day off from course. IT'S PRETTY GOOD GUYS, seriously I got a huge headache but it's been worth it. Amazing graphics, just bought my first house and found a chest inside so I opened it but got caught by the guards and now I'm doing community service to pay off my debt.

You have unlimited Mana and the guns fit really well in with the games combat. Also it's combat is much better then the first game because switching between melee, magic and long range styles is always fun. You don't do up your health and strength like the original and it's a lot harder to get gold then the first. I got a job as a blacksmith at the start which helped me get on my feet, but the mini game that goes with the social interactivity and job is kinda boring after awhile as their all the same.

The Dog is amazingly done and it's fun praising him and playing fetch. You have to unlock all the extra tricks he learns and I have only gotten one so far. The overall atmosphere, music, sound, the way the sun/moon light cascades through trees is just put together so well you can't picture the game without it.

The best thing in terms of progression so far is just on the way to your destination you just get side tracked ad wander off finding heaps of little things and it's sometimes hard to not just wander off your objective as the world is just begging you to explore it.

On a side note Lionhead have really out done themselves on making you feel like a poor bastard at the early stages of the game.

too bad it's Peter Molyneux who couldn't live up to the hype he generates for any game ever.

the game is pretty flawed, has big glitches (on the level of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed here...), has a dumb spell switching configuration (you can't change it on the fly you have to stop moving, which is retarded and makes the combat a lot less fluid), still has that retarded "you're either the holiest person in the fucking universe or satan himself" alignment system that no one can ever seem to get out of, the end boss is retarded because of it, and of course everything he hypes it up to be is an outright lie (a combat system...so deep...no one will ever be able to figure out the nuances. Yeah sure.). It's a decent game, but it's not a must get, and if anyone had problems with Fable 1, you're not going to like Fable 2. If you thought Fable 1 was okay, rent it. If you really liked Fable 1 somehow, go get Fable 2/go play a better RPG. The combat system is still convoluted, slow due to awkward key configuration, and has little depth. You still communicate using that retarded hand gesture system. You still have the retarded alignment system. Getting tattoos still makes you the devil for no reason at all. The game still has insane loading times that happen often.

but you can totally bone a woman and get STDs and have a dog so that makes up for it I guess.

To be honest I thought it looked cool, but I don't like the conversing with expressions. That's a tad bullshit, you can't have good conversations with NPCs without actually talking. Anyway, I'll probably rent it and have a play, and it seems like a cool game to play on my projector so hopefully it is. Can't be fucked buying it, and if Lionhead take the risk and port it to PC I'll probably get it then.

Looks okay I guess.

The co-op in this is utter garbage. You enter the host's world as a fucking HENCHMAN and even then you're restricted to stay on the same screen, and neither of you can rotate the camera. I mean, if you have to have a copy of the game yourself, not even being your own character is a pretty big kick in the teeth.

At least my friend's character is a porker that just eats pie and chops wood all day.

Fable is nothing even similiar to Oblivion. You'd best keep with Oblivion if you like it, because you won't find any of this in Fable.

Anyway, I played through Fable once: it was half-decent, true, but it was otherwise pretty mediocre. The alignment, as DN said, is only extremes, the interaction with other CPUs (and from what I hear of this now, the dog too) is only like playing rock paper & scissors with a bunch of guys from The Sims. The gameplay, at least in Fable 1, was pretty average. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't anything amazing. I'm guessing this is similiar, with more magic, a dog hitting for you and guns. The graphics seem great, but not SUPERB. I mean, the world is pretty beautiful, but the characters just look like they got a modern facelift from the original Fable, which, imo, isn't that great looking. But eh, whatever.

So, this only somewhat confirms what I thought was going to happen with this: it's pretty much Fable with a modern facelift. And Fable wasn't all that great.

Meh.

I absolutely hated Fable 1. Like, I found nothing enjoyable about it. :( I seem to be the only person who seems to think this, though.

I won't be picking this up!

I played through Fable 3 times simply for the gameplay, and getting all the weapons and magic maxed and stuff. I hated how you got the most powerful sword in the game so easily, and if you went out of your way to figure out Demon Doors and get in them you got pretty crappy weapons. So the Demon Doors better house better shit in this one. The graphics do look great.

This sounds a lot like how I felt about Oblivion too. There's all this exploration you can do, but the weapons/armor you find are shit and you can't find anywhere to sell all the useless junk you find.

I enjoyed Fable purely for gameplay and after playing Fable II at PAX it's pretty clear that Molyneux decided to nerf that in order to toss in more stupid emoticons and fart jokes.

What pisses me off even more is that, in an attempt to further reach the CASUAL market, he's dumbed down everything to a single button and even advertised this.  COMBAT, SO DEEP YET SO FLUENT, IT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THE PRESS OF A SINGLE BUTTON!!  PEOPLE WHO DON'T PLAY VIDEOGAMES WILL PLAY FABLE 2!!!

This kind of attitude pisses me off to no end.  I say it in every Wii topic and I'm saying it here "Games for people who hate games."

No you're not the only one, I hated it too.
The gameplay tended to be more frustrating than fun and the story was horrible.
I don't like too many western style RPGs (well I use to say that but lately I've been getting into and enjoying Oblivion, Fallout 1 and 2, Planescape and some other older ones) & I have even more dislike for high-fantasy RPGs so this might explain my dislike for Fable but I dunno, just seemed like a bad game really.
I'll be picking up Fallout 3 next week and there are some other western RPGs I wanna try as well (like Mass Effect and y'know I've never played KOTOR, Jade Empire or any of Bioware's games for that matter) so I really have no reason to get this.

EDIT: About the world, I've heard them say that this game doesn't restrict you to just a couple of paths like the first game, that you can go off the path and explore where you want but is this really true? Going by every video I've seen it seems to be just as path based as the first game.

I haven't had time to play this game at all because of school and band and tennis, but my dad has played like an hour of it.
From what I've seen is that the world is a lot more open.  Everything you can see in the distance you can mostly get to, and the graphics are truly amazing; it feels like you are in a fantasy world.  The combat seems a lot more fluid and you have no magic bar (instead the spells have to charge, I believe [at ][/at], to be affective).  The dog is awesome by the way, and you can swim in water and stuff (but only on the surface)!
The game seems really fun (I really enjoyed the first Fable also), and I'm awaiting until I get free time to play the game.

I can't find any two handed swords and the clothing is gay as shit. Do you not get armor in it at all or am I just not far enough into it? I can dress up like a woman or a faggot nobleman (not any better) but I can't wear anything cool.

And I hate how most of the spells are basically the same and can anyone tell me if this one is just as ridiculously short as the first? The Demon doors so far have been pretty disappointing too.

Other than those problems the game is pretty fun but I hate dressing up like a douche bag. PAULPET PAULPET

Oh yeah another thing. You can't zoom in on your character? SO WHAT if he has scars or tattoos YOU CANT FUCKING SEE THEM!

This was a problem for me in Oblivion. You only see your character's face when you open the journal. I remedied this by making Ron Perlman. I think I might go through my next playthrough as a High Elf Barack Obama.

As for Fable II, I wasn't really keen on it at first, but this looks really neat, and it's gotten pretty good reviews across the board. I might rent it, but I take everything Peter Molyneux says with several pounds of salt.
