im not sure if it was my brother or steel in one of his articles who said this but apparently RIGOROUS SAT STUDY COURSES are the way rich white people all get the sat scores necessary to get into good colleges.  they are v v effective and more than actually teaching you everything you need to learn or whatever in order to answer EVERY SINGLE QUESTION RIGHT, they just teach you how to take the test well.  like, there's a method apparently.  idk i dropped out before i took them so i'm not entirely sure!  but yes the classes are incredibly expensive but help a lot apparently.

I wish they had analogies again.

Asians:SAT::Whites:penis

I have SATs nov 1st, should I take them again, and which test should I take.

:.Reasoning Test.:
Writing: 740
Critical Reading: 670
Math: 580
Total -- 1990. I might nab a 2000, but I don't think having to pay the standby fee + test (around 80 bucks) really justifies that.

.:SAT Subject Tests:.
Literature: 730
Physics: 630
Math-II: 580
Another fricking 580 for math GOD WHY DO I SUCK AT MATH It's probably because I'm half white.

EDIT:
I've also taken the ACT recently because I'm lookin' to go to the east coast for college, and I think I did pretty well on that (except for the science part -- not enough time). So I don't know if I should even bother with the SAT anymore. Maybe it'd be a good idea to start writing up apps...

I take offense to this.
I have three half asian/half white nephews, by the way. Anyways, I honestly don't think i've ever taken the SAT test. I think I did take the PSAT, however.

Those scores should be fine, I wouldn't worry about taking the SAT ever again.  Your math score is most likely high enough to place you into whatever math you need, plus a lot of schools have math placement tests during their orientation programs in which you can place into a higher level of math if you need to.  Your writing and verbal scores should be high enough to place you out of most if not all english, depending on how the school you're looking at gives credit.  I'd say you're fine, just wait for your ACT to come back, and if it's lower than you wanted take that one again.

EDIT: oh yea, and as far as justifying paying to get above 2000, uh no.  if you look up what certain schools accept as far as SAT scores are concerned and the school is listed as accepting 2000 and higher, unless it's some rediculously prestigious school, then i can gurrantee you that there are people in that school that scored less than 1800 on the SAT.  schools will generally accept you, as long as you can pay...

once last piece of advice.  i know it kind of goes against everything i've been saying but...i would find out two things from each of the schools you are applying to (this is just SAT stuff).  do they give out any money based on SAT scores? and will they take your best sections from each time you took the SAT and add those together? i'm sure you are right there for any money if the school offers it, but one thing you might think about is the second question.  if the answer is yes and they will take your best sections, then, if it will get you money or some other great oppurtunity i would look in to studying your ass off for the math section of the SAT and not worrying about the others.  Your overall score might be lower, but if you could boost your math up to 650 or higher then your overall score with your best sections would look really good.  if there aren't any monetary oppurtunities though, then screw it, your scores are good enough...oh yea and you're the first person i've ever heard of that's actually taken the subject tests, are the schools you're interested in requiring those?

Yeah, unfortunately the University of California system requires a couple of subject tests, and although I really don't want to go to school here, it wouldn't hurt to see my prospects in UCSD or maybe UC Berkeley (if I'm feeling a little liberal). Just opening up my range of options.

That's great advice though, and I'm liking the idea of not having to take a test after Halloween. I'm definitely going to research SAT-based scholarships to see if it pays, so that I could take another test on December. Even though that's after the UC application window ends, I could try to get IN the schools with my current scores and I'd still be able to send in a followup report (I think) to get some scholarship $$$.

@Omcifer
That's because your people rape my people >:o
That's okay though, because we set the curve for your tests.
Also, wait-what? You've never taken the SATs? I thought you were Amerikan.

I am in a community college, so I guess I don't need it now. Unless it is required that I take it when I matriculate into a 4 year institution, then I will take it.

I know that a lot of private institutions have money laying around if you score high enough on the SAT.  Some of the ones I looked at literally had "If you score...1850 = $500 1900 = $1000 1950 = $1500."  I know that at all the small colleges I applied at I received their "Presidential" "Dean's "Academic" scholarship that would basically take the price of the college down to a public universities price.  What is your GPA and on what scale?  Some schools tie in GPA with it as well.  Also, as long as you get into the schools now, and if you were to take the SAT again, I would recommend taking it in the spring.  If both your GPA and SAT's are higher in the Spring, you can easily send a follow-up transcript with your higher grades and scores, and they will like that.  I did that with my GPA for my spring semester of my senior year and I got a $2000 grant because my grades were higher.
Can creativity be consistent?

i didn't study for the SATs either time i took them except for Math the second time, and it only raised my score from 640 to 660.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

Like JOJOFACE, I took the ACT, which is on a scale of 36. I got a 28. Subscores (out of 36):
English: 22 (I fell asleep -_-)
Mathematics: 28
Reading: 30
Science: 32

I had the highest score in the history of my school, which isn't saying much. :gwa:

SATs and ACTs depress me. I used to get so much anxiety over them! But congratulations on the good scores.

Yeah, as I mentioned above I took private SAT courses which were really good but unfortunately I still did bad!

Just pay attention for once in school.  It's really not that hard...

Did you try the ACT? It's a pretty different test and I actually learned stuff when I was studying for it.

Studying for the SAT just consisted of TEST STRATEGIES and memorizing nothing but bullshit which a sane education system would never measure someone's intelligence with.

I have a 3.6 unweighted so far, but if I don't my grades up this semester I'll have around a 3.2. That follow up transcript idea sounds really great though, so getting those grades up will be a huge priority.

Another question.

If I applied to a private college and qualified for that scholarship, am I still able to use federal grants to bring costs even lower? Can you fund private college with gubmint money?

EDIT:

Another question that doesn't have to do with testing. Do any of your states (preferably eastern states) offer waivers for state grants that require the student to acquire residence first? I don't want to (hypothetically) go to another state, have to establish residence while paying for out-of-state college tuition. I know NY has a waiver system for their PAT state grant -- for students who need money but their gpa is below the grant requirements...I'm pretty hopeful that they could give me the waiver on residential grounds because my grades are less 'risky.'

If I'm not mistaken. 18 is the 50th percentile, 24 is the 90th and 30 is the 99th (ACT, of course), so Beasley, you'd be about 98 and a half or more. :)

The SAT is despicable. I don't see how it counts as a measure of anything.
I got a 2050, but I'll be taking it again in December because everyone else in my school gets like 2200-2300. :(

Wow I guess the teachers at my school were right!

I'm on collegeboard looking at my detailed scores today and I'm top 99% on all three sections out of everyone who's taken it from my school.
