get real. a lot of popular rock since inception has been about pushing boundaries and being weird and doing stupid shit like having fake stage names. then you've got people like cat stevens, bob dylan, elvis costello, elton john, madonna, dimebag darrel, sting, and ODB, none of whom perform with their real name. why is deciding to call yourself SLASH suddenly beyond the pale? steel I think you've missed the point completely. I think the difference is that those are excellent names (and most of them come across as real names) while Slash isn't! equating a gimmicky hard rocker to guys like Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello is also pretty out there, beside the fact that at least they have changed their names to something that isn't really embarassing! (and in Elvis Costello's case probably out of necessity, a guy called Declan Patrick McManus is unlikely to go down well in 70s/80s Britain)

and mentioning people like FLEA and DIMEBAG DARRELL is no way to make this point they are dreadful.
