We want to know why!

No we don't.  We really, really don't.  At first I wanted to say something about how dumb his I DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF comment was but after thinking about it I'd rather he doesn't explain himself.

I watched the  international a few days ago but I didn't really pay attention to half of it and it seemed kind of dumb.  I mostly watched it because I enjoy looking at Clive Owen

the opening scene served its purpose, set up the villain and the tone for the rest of the movie. the bar scene on the other hand killed off a dozen characters that had been introduced and to that point had no real role! I mean the two basterds in that scene, the third one didn't matter, one was only there because he spoke german, and the other was given a huge introduction but did nothing prior to his death. I did like the scenes where the guy ate tierre missou with the jewish girl and where he strangled the german actress.
If anything, this stuff only detracted from the movie IMO because I went in expecting/wanting to see more of the basterds.

All tarantino movies have a lot of dialogue but I had hoped he got a lot of it out of his system in Death Proof!

I was watching an interview with Tarantino on PBS yesterday.  He was trying to explain his movies as "real life."  He kills off vital team members to simulate the true violence and uncertainty of war or some shit.

As far as MORE ACTION, LESS DIALOGUE...I was expecting the same, considering Tarantino's recent trend.  The previews were promising crazy "100 Nazi scalps" violence that just didn't happen.  I kind of expected the Kill Bill affair, an insane bloodbath, but it was a lot better played than that.  The bar scene was one of my favorites, imo.

The whole film followed a carefully drawn-out pattern.  You'd have this delicate and suspenseful build-up of dialogue that would explode into literally seconds of orgasm.

However, it's still tripe to me.  Like any other Tarantino movie, it's really fucking entertaining, but in the end it's pop culture wankery.

hahaha get over yourself kids
nobody gives a shit about your taste in movies and nobody thinks you're any cooler for it. tbh this conversation is pretty much just evangel since you two guys are too fucking smart to indulge us.

on topic: i do like that tarantino's movies are unformulaic for the most part, but it seems like a lot of his movies seem gimmicky, mostly with the editing and stuff. im sure it wouldn't get as much attention if his movies werent such a leap from the norm right now. i think i read that he spent some ridiculous amount of time on this movie so i don't doubt that there are reasons behind every detail. The vintage movie reel thing he does in his movies are pretty cool too. Also I didn't realize he was in From Dusk Til Dawn which is a favorite of mine (just found this out on imdb).

I think um, I think my friend P-burn was telling CaptainChekov there to consult your post. I think this because there is no question mark or comma but then again slack grammatical style but still ? is very important for the general flow of the post

psyburn please communicate better

That makes no sense though because my post said I didn't want psyburn's explaination so I don't know how that would apply to anyone else's.

i'm on this ridiculous peter cook kick, so i watched bedazzled, which i hadn't seen in a long time. what a cool movie. in general the peter cook/dudley moore duo was major factors in the comedies which i believe to be the best ever made, the wrong box and the bed sitting room(i have links to these movies on youtube elsewhere in this topic). i doubt seriously that this is a coincidence.

it's a real tragedy that quarreling and your typical mixture of booze, cocaine, and women fucked up the peter cook and dudley moore collaboration. i'm not aware of a more talented and versatile comedy act. everything they did was special, and it's staggering to think of what they could have accomplished if both had stuck together their whole careers. unfortunately, both went their separate ways after a while, and neither really had the career they were truly capable of having.

there's really not a whole lot left of their work now, apart from the movies listed above and a few scattered television shows and comedy albums. apart from your occasional self-appointed comedy scholar, i never really hear anybody making a particularly big deal about the two anymore. it's a real shame.

I watched Inglorious Basterds expecting it to be a historical movie that possibly sheds light on aspects of WWII. Instead it became a pointless display of violence and some unholy sexuality. The movie is not based on any history but is a reimagined version of WWII. There were 3 scenes of people with their scalps having been removed with a knife. There was a scene of someone being executed with a baseball bat. There were many scenes of shooting, knifing, and other methods of killing people.

A couple of people sitting next to me or closeby got sick and had to leave, one threw up on the seats. I don't blame them. The bible teaches us to be at peace with one another and tells us to keep our minds and hearts pure before Christ. This movie encourages the exact opposite and beginning from the very title, glorifies murder, rage, lust, revenge, cowardly acts during war, terrorism, and pride.

I think this is a shameful film that needs to be condemned not only by Christians but by all Americans for what it represents. There is nothing at all funny about depicting Americans as a bloodthirsty, brutal people.

I watched The Number 23 last night since it was on Space, and I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive side, Jim Carrey acted quite nicely. I don't really like him in his usual comedic roles, so it was great to see him pull off a serious role. The art direction in the film - specifically the parts from the novel - were awesome. I loved the feel of them and how all the actors doubled as characters in it. The music was also nice. On a negative note, the ending was VERY weak. I liked how it faked you out for a minute, but then when it explained what was really going on I was left with a "that's it?" expression and then the number 23 wasn't even explained at all... plus the guy who Overall, I was satisfied with it. Despite the overall plot I did like the scenes from the novel.
