Sorority Row. It was a good bad movie.

I started watching The Host soon after, but I turned it off to do something else. It seemed good so far, though,.

it wasn't that funny!! but I have a feeling it's one of those movies I'll like more in retrospect. I'm already liking it more.

I'm excited for their next film true grit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Grit_(2010_film)

Yeah I really liked it. I feel like I should dislike the Coen Bros on principle because HEH FILM REFERENCE and the whole argument that they just throw up mean-spirited pastiche but I never got that at all! There is a kind of uh liking of the characters and situations and references etc that stops them from falling into obnoxious quirky mannerisms and "keeps it real" as the kids say. Actually maybe with Burn After Reading where the whole thing felt like some ugly and exaggerated tic but I liked A Serious Man a lot.

I watched Zombieland too and yeah it was pretty bad. I felt a little gross watching it because so much of it was really terrible and obvious. You could see all the Character Moments slotting into place and all this boring predictable shit. Heh shes a bad girl but shes wounded........... He's a toughie but looking for twinkies lmao but does he have a dark past?? A drunken confession! A bonding moment before the big climax. Things that get set up in the first five minutes and resolved in the last five minutes. And a lot of shit that thought it was cuter than it was, like the whole list thing. The directing in general I guess annoyed me. I don't know why I'm bitching so much about ZOMBIELAND of all things but okay.

I watched Shutter Island a few days ago aaaaaaaand it was okay I guess?? I mean it was semideliberately PULPISH I guess and melodramatic and most of the things I didn't care for were already in the book it got adapted from but I dunno. I kind of liked how Leonardo DiCaprio starts out as like ridiculously unwatchably affected, like trying so hard to be ACTIIIIING and it never quite works and everyone else is kind of downplaying so it's really uncomfortable to watch how bad he is, and then by the end you realise that was all a very deliberate thing all throughout the film. So that was good. The whole thing felt kind of like a... pointless genre exercise though. Like they wanted to SLUM IT and make something campy and lurid but the whole thing ends up with something that's too sharp to be dumb fun and too stupid to be a-art~ and so it was kind of unsatisfying.

I liked Zombieland :P... then again I really love zombie flicks in general.

Also I have all 5 Dirty Harry movies on my PC now that my little brother gave me. Never watched them before... well until Tuesday night, watched the first one. And it was pretty good. Noticed cliches but then realized that it probably defined quite a bit of cliches I was spotting being such and old and iconic movie.

Half way through the second one. Had to stop (I'm in class now).

Plan on finishing the series.

Finished 2 and 3.  So far the 2nd movie is my favorite. Had suspense rather than just being a action movie.

I watched The Lovely Bones, I was expecting more from this movie although I'm not sure why. It had some beautiful moments but it wasnt enough to save this movie for me, also I didnt like the ending.

I watched it again. it's good

also saw walk hard on tv. it wasn't good in general but there was also this huge section in the middle where absolutely nothing happened. I don't know why I'm writing this, I don't think anyone here would seek out this movie. if you're a fan of the hangover, boy will you be able to tolerate this movie:

I don't normally watch movies that often, but a couple nights ago my buddy and his gf and I watched the babysitters. It was alright I guess just kind of disappointing sort of in a weird way.

We watched the Departed tonight and I liked it a lot. The ending pissed me off but I liked the movie I thought it was good.

Saw "Die Welle" in school last week. I liked it, although I felt it was pushing it a bit with the students getting so aggressive and even one of them carrying a gun around. I keep asking myself the question "Can people really fall for fascism so easily after discussing that fascism on a large scale wouldn't be possible in the current time?".

this is the only movie i can remember walking out of. me and my brother thought it looked like a decent enough jokefest since it had john c reilly in it and jenna fischer screaming 'this is america!!!!' in the TV ad for it. but it wasn't. it was terrible and it should have been called Biopic Movie or Music Movie to be honest about what it's intentions were. pile of crud. that was a couple of years ago whenever it came out. i don't pay to see just any old shit anymore, that's for sure!

I've been re-watching Band of Brothers recently. I'm up to Chapter 4. I love it. I've only watched the series once before, but I remember the episode focusing on the medic being the best one. I can't wait to see it again.

I don't have HBO, but I will try to find a way to get my hands on The Pacific. Let me know if it's any good.

Doing a project for film class over Sam Raimi and I need to watch at least one lesser known Raimi movie.  Is The Quick and the Dead any good?

Finished all of the Dirty harry movies. They didn't really change the formula too much. but none of them were really bad, and the first and second one were really interesting.

Also just watched "Gamer". It was bad. but it wasn't 27/100 bad (thanks Metacritic). I'd give it ~50 or something. mainly because I felt it had plenty of redeeming qualities. Its just that the overall movie was kind of mish-mashed and poorly explained. Jumped all over the place. The movie ran around like a crazed crack head (in a bad way).

Suppose that fits though considering the director is the same guy that did the Crank movies.

Just came back from seeing Clash of the Titans. Visually it was nice but I liked the story in the original version much better! While the old film had a certain heart to it, this one just felt kind of cold. It didn't really have soul in the end. Maybe I'm just bitter because my favourite character was only on the screen for 2 seconds in this version.

Poor Bubo...

And they left out the closing line about everyone being remembered in the constellations.. why I don't know. It would have been an effective conclusion given that the film opened in space. So yeah, this is another case where the old film is better than the new one, despite the upgrade in visuals. (But really, I think most people would expect that going in. This is strictly a visual effects fest film).
