me and a friend of mine are leveling a priest and a mage and last night we stepped foot into stv for the first time, and blackrock is already at full capacity so we expected the worse, but anyway, we got there and went up to nessingwary's camp and saw this ?? priest and ?? mage (we're 33 and 34 btw) ganking some 35 rogue. so we jump in i sheep the priest and my buddy starts dispelling the fuck out of the mage and we burn him down rotating cs/silence and then kill the priest and they both resed and we killed them again, it was so awesome.

and on the topic of rp servers the one thing i NEVER got was theres this UNWRITTEN RULE when in groups that you pass all the items FIRST then do a /roll, i mean there is absolutely no point in doing that because theres already a fucking system in game for that but basically 90% of people on rp servers are idiots

i dont know where you guys are getting any of this rp server stuff.

basically i have never seen anyone start walking because of stamina, never seen the above unwritten rule, etc etc etc. It's actually fairly decent and I enjoy it. Mostly because it's WAY easier to remove dicks. You occasionally see some RP (doesnt bother me any, just ignore it if you must), but if someone is being completely terrible you can say he's breaking RP rules, and basically he gets owned.

Plus the GMs seem to be way more active and quick, at least on my realm. I've put in 5 tickets and each of em was answered within 15m or less. It's a high pop serv too so!

How have you never seen people walking around rather than running/mounting on RP servers

They ALL DO IT.

If it's an RP realm and there isn't people walking around every city because there's NO NEED TO RUSH ENJOYING THE LOVELY ELWYN AIR AHHHHHH then that is the definition of a sucky RP realm

That is one of their defining features.

Maybe on the US realms there was enough assholes asking "lol why are you walking fag? that'll ruin your exp/hour" that they just stopped doing it :-[

yeah i've played on like three separate rp realms for a decent amount of time and i regularly saw people doing things like walking around orgrimmar.  the groups weren't bad if you ignored the lame rping because the people were generally pretty NICE and okay to group with but yeah, they did a lot of gay rp stuff!  ultimately, it was the lack of interest in pvp ("i just wanna quest ><") that killed it for me, though.  aside from raiding for whatever gear wowego and just seeing how much dps i could manage to do on bossfights if i REALLY TRIED, pvp was the only thing i had any interest in for like the last year and a half i played, world pvp especially.  i liked battlegrounds a lot for a while but idk after hitting exalted with all three like two times over and realizing you're just playing the same 4 or 5 types of games over and over, it's not fun anymore.

one thing i kind of miss though was the BEST type of bg match, and that was decent pug consisting of me, my priest, MAYBE a warrior friend for battle shout and just other random assistance, and then a bunch of random strangers vs a bad premade.  i looooved fighting bad premades with a healer.  it wasn't as easy as steamrolling half a fucking team people in a pug in the middle of warsong with just a priest because they lack any organization whatsoever, and then being able to camp their graveyard with two people, because that stopped being fun or challenging pretty quickly, but it wasn't as difficult as facing a legit premade.  it was JUST RIGHT.

Ma, why not just RP on a pvp server? I do it all the time and it's awesome because

1) people on pvp servers fucking HATE RPing apparently

2) i love telling stories.

i used to play on a really good RP-PvP server. while i wasn't hugely bothered about the RP aspect, it helped in the fact that people used to go on BIG RAIDS. there were always huge battles in astranaar and shit like that.

we even had this one massive battle where like the alliance and horde both gathered as many people as possible and lined up against each other in the shimmering flats. there must have been a good 200 on each side. some "PROMINENT RPers" as it were gave the order to charge, it was chaos for about 10 seconds but then the server crashed. still, great fun.

but then that server just turned REALLY BAD all of a sudden so i quit playing there. haven't seen another good RP realm since!

PvP is far too important to me to roll on a PvE server, you just get too many awesome moments in world PvP that you can't get on PvE. sure it's a bit gay getting ganked by 5 level 70s while levelling in STV but its shit like that you got to put up with to get to good parts.

higher up i find world PvP a great way to test your REACTIONS and shit. so many times i've been jumped by somebody while fighting a mob and managed to turn the tide so i'm on top and eventually win. you just don't get fun like that when nobody's PvP flagged. i also have a tendency to try and 1v2/1v3 people, doesn't often happen, but you can surprise yourself.

yeah, i really like world pvp it is pretty fun.

that and i play on them for lore reasons cause i am a lore fag. seeing an alliance and a horde /hug each other is kind of lame, unless you're on Thaurissan or something.

Some site actually did an INTERVIEW with the guy that got the bow, kind of taking things a bit too far really. Sure its cool but...its a drop in a game for gods sake!

But man, my guild is doing M'uru now and that fight is just totally and utterly BATSHIT INSANE and KJ is just as hard apparantly so the ones that have downed him do deserve some sort of respect.

I look at that picture and I can barely even see a bow. It looks... well, a little bit over the top!

I sort of wish legendaries still required a big quest and you to get crafted stuff from people in your guild and shit rather than just orantge dropped which fuckin hunter's getting this today

I'll never get one anyway but I thought that was cooler

I don't keep up with pve news and stuff so I'm glad to hear this. It's about time encounters get added that are actually challenging enough that they don't get cleared on the first fucking day even by the best guilds

Ya I've read a lot of comments from the guilds that have cleared him and they are basically saying it's the best group of raids since Naxx. Completely well designed and balanced, challenging but not ridiculous (enough that if you suck you're gonna get owned), etc etc etc.

man that is a sick bow

its justified if its actually a challenging encounter!!! i dont pve really but i have experienced a little bit (admittedly not post-tbc) and it really wasn't hard most of the time. just a case of GEAR and REPETITION imo. maybe they've rectified it in tbc i dont know.
