I'm using a Mac at school and I want to make it look like Vista. Is this possible? I know on Windows you can make it look like OSX though programs like WindowBlinds and ObjectDock but I want to do it the other way around.

I'm using OSX Tiger 10.4.11

I've only vaguely looked into it, but it doesn't seem like there's any easy way to make OS X look like anything.

But...why do you want this exactly?  Just curious.

For the same reason people want to make their PCs look like Macs?

I don't know why people do this either so :fogetunsure:

The only time I've changed the appearance of any OS is when it's some completely different, better option, I've never been so in love with the default look of an OS to make other OSes look like them.

yeah this is very true, unless your reason was BECAUSE some pc users want their pcs to look like macs, you don't really explain why you want to do this

but like i said i am just curious!  i'm not going to tell you to NOT do this i just want to know why you want to

The only reason I can say that people do this is because they enjoy certain style elements found in other GUIs, they are curious, or they want to trick people into thinking that they are running another OS.

the reason why I tried changing my windows xp desktop to look like a Mac was because of curiousity mostly. The only design aspect I really like adding to my windows desktop that is in Mac OS X is the dock.

as far as I know, you can only change windows to look like a mac, not the other way around. I could be wrong however.

The only reason I am curious is because this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone asking for a PC UI on a Mac. It's always been the other way around.

Man I like how just about every one has this strange fascination in why Mama Luigi wants to change his PC to a OSX look. Its not that odd. I especially like how no one has a real answer.

there are some questions in life that just don't have an answer. some which are timeless. this is just one of those cases.

you can just install windows on a mac with bootcamp fyi
they're basically just slick looking PCs ever since apple ditched the IBM PowerPC platform for Intel's x86 chips.

other than that, I don't think anyone has felt the urge to write a program to make the OSX UI look like vista. Here are some windows themes I found that might help:
windows classic - http://interfacelift.com/themes-mac/details.php?id=184
XP royale inspired theme - http://interfacelift.com/themes-mac/details.php?id=85
XP Theme - http://interfacelift.com/themes-mac/details.php?id=10

Bootcamp is basically Apple's program that allows you to create, format, and boot into a windows partition.

I'm not OBSESSIVELY CONCERNED OH GOD MAMA LUIGI DON'T DO IT DON'T...DON'T RUIN YOUR MAC THIS WAY..., that is not what this is.  If this is what he wants to do then more power to him!  But, I've just never heard of anyone wanting to do this so I was just curious as to why.  It's not like I'm on a secret mission to stop him or convince him he's wrong or anything, just kinda curious because I've never heard this before.

I want to do it because I prefer Vista's UI. It's so much more colorful and I'm helplessly in love with Aero

Part of the reason I also want to do it is just to see if it's possible and how close I can get to actually making it look like Vista. It's easy on Vista - just get a copy of WindowBlinds and Objectdock... get the Mac cursor and you're pretty much set! There are obvious differences but at face it will look like OSX.

Unfortunately from what I can see, no one has created an Aero port to Mac. I don't like XP, I think it's hideous. Why anyone would want to make their Mac look like that idk, but I suppose some people just like the way XP looks (minus its low res icons and stuff?).

XP with the windows classic theme was the best looking windows ever.
