You know what fad I hate? Marbles. You guys remember Marbles?

You guys remember stickball?  Yeah, stickball...hated that fad...

When I was a boy the pokemans were a big fad that hit my middle school. I was such a sucker at the time I had pokeman red with that special red slim gameboy handheld. About mid-way through high school the in-thing was with playing card games. Crazy-8's, asshole/president, or even solitare were extremely popular for some time. I wouldn't have thought much of it if I had seen a few card games here and there, but it was an absolute staple of the lunch room culture. My circle of friends was involved in it too, and we were pretty much realist+nerd versions of metal-heads if that makes any sense.

It's not like card games are like crocs, what I mean is that during my tenure I saw the gradual popularization grow and flourish into a full blown fad. It eventually fell through during my senior year, so I hope its still dead. It would give me the douche chills to see this fad live on.

Edit: and yes I owned about 10 million pogs and slammers. how did our parents ever put up with us?

Reggaeton is a mixture between rap, hiphop, reggae, merenge, and some other shit... in spanish. It's all about gettin in dat ass. You know. Fuckin dem bitches. Oh, and life in the gutter. At least.... this is the shit my mom listens to. I never sought to listen to it on my own, so I don't know much about it. It sounds awful though.

That's why pokemons blew my mind. A subculture based around emo, anime, and reggaeton must be fucking incredible.

Reggae has almost anything to do with reggaeton anyway, completely different genres. Although I'm not really fond of reggae because of the homophobic lyrics (in some of them)

Marbles DEFINITELY aren't a fad, marbles have been around since like ANCIENT EGYPT, and even if you just considered when they were mass produced that was around WWI.  It's just that kids don't play marbles very often anymore, but just because it's lost popularity doesn't mean it's a fad when it's been around since ancient times.  Fads are things that don't last very long, that are just popular for a short time.

That's why I made the STICKBALL analogy because it's the same kind of thing.

Marbles aren't a fad in your experience just because they may have only been present in your life for a short time, that doesn't mean that something that's been around for centuries is a fad.

Did anyone ever experience "Gives"?  Now THAT was the most obnoxious "fad" ever in middle school.  Basically, anyone who said anything obvious or downright stupid would be subjected to this.  Followed by someone saying "THATS A GIVEN", someone would smack their hand on the back of your head and swipe it to the side.  The whole act is so indignant, you just want to punch that person in the face.

Wait a sec. I think you guys have been interpretting this wrong. How long ago something was created doesn't matter in the slightest bit. Just because it's there doesn't mean that anybody cares about it.

Uh dude, it does matter in this case!  Are you telling me that even though MARBLES were invented in ancient Egypt, they're a fad because no one cares about it?  ffffffff this is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard.  Just because kids RIGHT NOW don't play marbles (i.e. the last what?  ten/twenty years?  I played marbles as a small kid so it was at least in favor then) doesn't mean it hasn't been a VERY popular and widespread game worldwide that kids have been playing since ancient Egypt.  Now, please tell me how that doesn't matter.  Tell me how MARBLES are something that no one has cared about since it was invented, because you are way off here bud.
