Why have two people in this thread called Drawn to Life, Drawn Together?

My bad, I was actually watching Drawn Together at the time, I'll fix my errors now.

Also be realistic Xanqui you can't have a vagina or anal sex as an interactive object...
I hope they put a filter in the game that finds words like that and then has a message saying "OOOP mind the swears"

this looks like a cool game. the idea of having many interactive objects and combinations is interesting but games are not MAGIC and there is clearly a predefined set of items (you would imagine at least 50 based on the screen in the trailer). choosing the items by writing their name is also an interesting idea versus CLICK ITEM FROM MENU. it certainly has unique gameplay mechanics but doubting this is possible or something to this effect makes very little sense.

Very true, although I think there are those who are overthinking it or maybe underthinking what may or may not be possible.  Obviously there is going to be some limits, it's not going to be endless, although what is probably going to be the biggest draw is the combination of things you can do.  With the way it's explained, if you wanted you could solve that puzzle in the video by creating a ramp, creating a skateboard, attaching a rocket to the skateboard and launching that at the starite.  I know in the interview they mentioned someting briefly about how the designer was riding a rapter by holding a metal pole with a piece of meat dangling from it in front of the raptor.  Stuff like that is what I'm most intrigued about because (and maybe it's my lack of imagination) if I had those three items in mind separately, I'm not sure if I would think of putting that together like that even taking into account how the AI and physics work (for example, raptor = meat eater, meat in vicinity, it will chase it, if it doesn't catch meat it keeps chasing it...) crap like that.

Yeah, I mean the video showed a cop at then end running for a donut so there has to be some common ground between some more of the objects...
It's really just as simple as Attribute A is attracted to Attribute B, then assigning IDs but that could take ages...

Also I would also think of maybe having a cat, and then drawing a dog...
The cat would run away from the dog and climb up the tree to safety, potentially knocking that object out...

That would force the code to think a lot more deeply.
The cat would run away from the dog, according to their coding, but would the cat see the tree as a safe spot?

Object A...

Repelled by: Object B
Attracted to: Object C, D, E (mice, fish and trees)
Ability: Climb

As long as they have predefined commands they should really be able to do anything in the same fashion, just replacing graphics.

For every new object they make they could just check off whether it can interact with other premade objects and how, depending on what category it falls under.
It's all just theory at this stage but if I was designing this sort of game, that's the approach I would take.

According to the interview, they have been reading dictionaries and encyclopedias for 3 months just to make a huge list of stuff that would get in the game.

That is awesome.

that's bullshit they just looked up synonyms lists for RUN or whatever when they needed it. if you think AMBERGRIS or CTHULTHU are gonna be in the game, you're wrong.

I doubt they'll have anything from other pieces of fiction, but as far as other stuff, it seems like they'll be in the game.

I want to know how many things are really in it.  Ten thousand?  A hundred thousand?  They just keep saying "ANYTHING!"

was hoping this would be more like a Zelda game but it's still really cool

I could totally do this in RPGMaker

I would just think a couple of items could make you win the whole game if they behaved realisticly, like HELICOPTER and DYNAMITE and KEY

More like

A hundred?

A hundred and fifteen?

A hundred and twenty, at best?

It's hype. Only hype.

There are more than 120 things.  There's no reason they couldn't have thousands of things in the game.

I was thinking though, what would happen if you wrote in love, or god, or some other abstract thing?

I reckon they just went for common words that every random shmo would think up in day to day life...
Umbrella, crate, boulder, ruler, glue stick, doll, toilet... etc.

Of course there's more than 120, but everytime a game comes up and they tell "HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF POSSIBILITIES" it ends up being astronomically smaller than that because, well, idk, they suck or something. People in general.

Fable.
Yeah, but Fable still turned out to be an awesome game.  It didn't live up to the promises at all, but it still managed to be more fun than just about any other RPG out there.

I wouldn't go that far! (I found it incredibly boring because I let myself get sucked into the hype too early, but even people I know that like it wouldn't say it's the BEST RPG EVER by a long shot...)

But my thoughts on this are basically the same as everyone else. Also sure there may be thousands of items in the game, but essentially the vast majority of them are going to do pretty much the exact same thing and have the exact same result, so I dunno tbh. I prefer something like Crayon Physics or that game that was in FF (I forget the name) where you can draw whatever you like and then the only limitation really is your imagination.

I have to admit, the DONUT/COP bit at the end of the trailer was an interesting twist.

too bad that essentially all puzzles could probably be solved with JETPACK or something so it probably won't be there.
WHY SO SERIOUS HAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
