gah my finals were a mixed bag. didnt have one in anthro, had one in trig and one in persian

trig wasnt too bad. persian has been and still is a nightmare. you see the exam is like this:

Outside of class:
-Read a story from our text book, record it, email to professor
-Create a report containing EVERYTHING we learned this quarter nice and organized
-300 word dictionary. Each word must have a sentence and you must use the word in the sentence. (I did some of these really stoned really late at night and they are really funny and dont make sense at all haha)
In Class:
150 question exam including translate from persian to english, english to persian, fill in the blanks, unscramble sentences, answer questions, and a short essay

it is clear that he wants certain folks to fail the class and not take it next quarter lol. what doesnt kill you makes you stronger

THANK GOD FOR PRIOR KNOWLEDGE I DONT HAVE TO STUDY FOR 30 BILLION HOURS LIKE YOU JERKS

This is what makes my Advent of the Algorithm class so easy because it basically takes stuff from our Foundations of CS class and just expands on the history parts.  It's just shit about Hollerith and Babbage and other people who led to important CS stuff up until the 80s (that's when our book was written and we didn't have time to cover the stuff that happened after the book), most of which I already knew.  And since it's a CS AND Math class, most of the class is made up of math students that know nothing about computers so our projects were things like WRITE AN ALGORITHM FOR A PAPER AIRPLANE and WRITE A PROGRAM IN LOGO and DO A HUFFMAN TREE.  Combine that with the fact that I already knew most of the history stuff, and this has been an easy class.

yea idk, like ryan my school is dumb and easy sooooo I ALSO HAVE FINALS (a couple tomorrow and a couple early next week) but i do not really care since yeah, they are all easy As.  actually 3 are easy As and my english one idk about because he just mentioned we even have a final last week and i'm not sure if he is testing us on ENGLISH or on NATURE (this is all we have talked about).

so yeah, i'm lightweight worried because i should have a 4.0 for the semester buuuuut if the final is on some shit i don't even know about then my tanking it could potentially knock me from an A to a B in the class which would mean i'd get like a 3.7 or whatever which is p unacceptable to me.  i think maybe i will email him and ask him what the fuck the test is even about

Marmot, your marks are over a total of 5 points?

Today I finished my exams so I am in summer break until March.

As of now I only know one result, that of Latinoamerican History, which I thought I didn't do so good and ended up with an 8 over 10. Sweet stuff.

Had to write 25 pages for Latinoamerican Political Systems.

2 essays for Contemporary International Relations.

And today I wrote an exam for Argentine Political Affairs. Dunno how I did it, I was pretty fed up with studying and such. I know I delivered, but dunno if I'll hold the 9 of the partial exam.

All in all, uni isn't so tough. You just have to read stuff.

My last final is in 23 hours.
The previous 2 were in the last 24hours.
I need more time between finals so I can adequately prepare :(

Anyway, I'm pretty worried that all my marks are going to be very close to failing, but hopefully I don't, because I'm not really into retaking shit (nor do my parents really want to keep contributing money for me to do so)
fuck it all, dd is dead

My college is on a pass or fail system, with a pass being over 60 or 65% depending on the class, and since we only get Ps or Fs on our transcripts all you have to do is pass and you're good. We also only take one course at a time, so right now I only have one exam coming up. I feel sorry for those who have like 5 exams in one week. I do have exams often it seems, but I like my system a whole lot better than when I was in first year university and had 5 simultaneous courses going on.

So yeah, I have my 100% final in Endocrine in two days, and I just need to get a 60 or above. I really hope I can do it since this class was only a 3 week course and I just started committing things to memory this week. (After being in Cardiology for 8 weeks straight I just got burned out).

Wish me luck! (There are way too many drugs for Type II diabetes that I need to memorize.  :blarg:)

Yeah, my first year of college was easy too.  It hasn't been that difficult, it's just that I've gotten lazier since then, and things seem more difficult by relation.
Nah, to me the first year was the most difficult due to:
- lack of adaptation (school to uni)
- not used to study (at school I got high marks without studying much)
- diverse classes, most which I don't give a damn about. So I had to read against will.
- I grew more mature through the years, learned how to handle classes, what to study and such.
- Likewise, gained in confidence

ah i can relate to the shit first years- on top of those things you mentioned, soup, i had mono (along with the rest of my res) and was ALWAYS tired. my roommate was on the phone from 2am-4am since it was the only time her bf could talk. also, in my res you couldn't open the door or window (more than an inch) and our AC was broken HEATING our room during a heat wave. it was absolutely ridiculous.

on a bright note, for the second term i was able to move to the best res on campus since i hate a doctors note. i'm pretty sure every single person in that building had a doctor's note to get in... and mine was the only legit one :S

Man I really wish my school was on a pass/fail system.  I'd rather just PASS instead of having to tell my mom by HOW MUCH I passed.  You feel like you accomplished nothing when you get a C in a class (or at least I do).

Dude fuck that grades really aren't that important. If you pass, you pass. Really... getting hung-up over grades really is never worth it.

they're very important if you're like me and panda and plan on transferring to a 4-year. or if you plan on going to grad school.

Yeah, I'm already at a 4-year and I plan on going to grad school.  Grades are very important!  Also, I don't know why you SHOULDN'T be concerned with your grades, that is just ridiculous.  That transcript is going to follow you to job and school applications.  Plus it's important to my parents, although I think I beat myself up over it more than they ever would.  I'm not one of those people who has to constantly get A's, I'm just one of those people who feels bad when they get a C.

More studying, less GW.

Fuck off, I study a lot.  I studied plenty for that economics test I failed, it was just that I was studying the theory stuff in the chapters and not the graphs.  I had no idea we were supposed to memorize these graphs, I just thought we were supposed to be able to say things about them.

This is part of the problem. I find that very unhealthy for a person.

Getting good grades are important if you need them to continue your path in education at grad school, sure. I won't argue against that because only a fool would argue against that.

That said, there's no point getting hung up over poor grades or getting downright depressed/stressed-out over them. I am simply content when I take a class I enjoy and I learn new things in that class. My priorities are different than yours though, apparently.

they are out of 4. 4 is A, 3 is B, 2 is C, D is 1, and 0 is F. generally you pass with a 2

Like I said though, I'm not one of those people who stresses over getting A's and does nothing but study.  I don't get DEPRESSED or even all that stressed over my grades, I'm just DISAPPOINTED in myself, which I think is p. normal.  When you feel like you could have done better and you didn't, you tend to not be happy about it.  I guess I should have chosen my words better, instead of 'beating myself up' over it.  I just mean I'm more concerned with it than my parents, but they're concerned too.

Also, that is why I would like it to be pass/fail.  I would be content just to know that I learned new things, but my plans for the future include grad school and that's really fucking important to me, that's why I need to get good grades!
