Well im getting an external hard drive soon, as this 40 gig laptop one is full. I am just wondering, is there any thing i should know about use of these things? Just anything i should be wary of.

if you plan on taking it all over the place, you'll want a portable one, external hard drives need a power supply. portable ones are smaller and cost more, though.

Most are now, but try to get a high speed USB one. Just make sure your laptop has high speed USB (If it's newer it does.)

Yeah there's nothing much really, just don't throw it around and shit, as it is a hard-drive and can be damaged.

i got one a few months ago. i looked into them and decided i'd get it seperate: one hard drive, one enclosure.

i bought the same hard drive my laptop uses just incase this one ever fails, then bought an enclosure for it for about 10 bucks. buying it seperate ended up being CHEAPER which is awesome. its also super small and doesnt need a power supply (though i don't think many do these days as someone said).
sometimes, you need to quote yourself to feel important.
